Nominations Sought for Top 25 Clinical Informaticists

Modern Healthcare Call for Entries for 2012 Top 25 Clinical Informaticists

For the third straight year Modern Healthcare is seeking nominations for the country’s Top 25 Clinical Informaticists in Healthcare. This awards and honors program recognizes medical professionals “who excel at using patient-care data to improve both clinical and financial performance of their organizations.” The deadline for submission is no later than August 31.

The medical professionals generally nominated include the role of CMO, CMIO, CHIO, directors of clinical information, and medical directors of information or informatics systems. The program, however, is not limited to these titles alone. Past winners included one of our HITECH Answers contributing experts, Dr. Bill Hersh, who is the professor and chair of medical informatics and clinical epidemiology in the school of medicine at Oregon Health & Science University.

The recipients will be announced and profiled in Modern Healthcare’s November 5th issue, Modern Physician and Health IT Strategist.

To determine this year’s winners a review board comprised of senior editors from Modern Healthcare lists the following three criteria:

  • Nominees have successfully used patient-care data to improve his or her organization’s clinical and financial performance
  • Nominees have demonstrated a willingness to share expertise with others in the field of clinical informatics
  • Nominees have assumed a leadership position in clinical informatics outside of the candidate’s own organization or company

To nominate a candidate for this year’s award a letter detailing how the candidate meets or exceeds these three criteria must be submitted before the August 31 deadline. Letters should also include supporting documentation showing successful use of clinical information to improve the candidate’s orgranization performance. Modern Healthcare also asks that you include the candidate’s resume or curriculum vitae and a color photo with the submission. All submissions are accepted through email to:
