By John Halamka – After 10 years of work, I passed the baton of leadership for US standards harmonization efforts to Arien Malec and Lisa Gallagher. Here’s a brief synopsis of the journey.
By John Halamka MD – The December 2015 HIT Standards Committee focused on 3 key projects as we wrapped up our work for the year. Cris Ross presented the work of the Certified Technology Comparison Task Force. The idea behind this work is simple.
By John Halamka MD – The November HIT Standards Committee included a comprehensive review of the CMS Meaningful Use Stage 3/Modification Rule and the ONC 2015 Certification Rule. We began the meeting with a presentation from Robert Anthony of the Meaningful Use Stage 3 and Modification Rule.
By John Halamka MD – All the members of the ONC Federal Advisory Committees met in Washington to review delivery system reform and the Interoperability Roadmap. We began the meeting with a thank you to Jodi Daniel, who will be leaving ONC after 10 years of service.
By John Halamka MD – The September 2015 HIT Standards Committee was notable for the naming of new members and for the incorporation of the NwHIN Power Team (Dixie Baker) Standards Maturity model in all of ONC’s planning. Ten members of the committee reached their term limit in June.
By John Halamka MD – The August 2015 HIT Standards Committee marked the beginning of an important transition. As work on Meaningful Use winds down, it is being replaced with work on Obama’s signature precision medicine initiative and planning for the 2016 Interoperability Standards Advisory.
ONC is seeking applications for the Health IT Policy Committee (HITPC) and Health IT Standards Committee (HITPC). If you are interested in becoming a member of the either committee, you can submit an application using ONC’s application database through Friday, September 11.
