Cerner Corporation @Cerner and Dept. of Defense @DeptofDefense – As reported by Modern Healthcare last week, Cerner’s bid for the military EHR contract has gone unchallenged with the protest period for competing bidders now past. A DoD spokeswoman confirmed no challenges have been filed, clearing the way for Cerner on the planned EHR deployment expected to begin next year.

CMS @CMSgov and Anthem @askAnthem – Also reported by Modern Healthcare comes news that CMS has awarded Anthem subsidiary National Government Services a contract to help it disburse incentive payments to Medicare providers that have met the standards for meaningful use. As part of the nearly $7 million agreement, the claims processing company will make payments and process meaningful-use audit and cost-report audit demand letters, among other duties. The contract has one base year and four option years.

CA Technologies @CAinc and Xceedium @Xceedium – CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Xceedium, Inc., a provider of privileged identity management solutions that protect on-premise, cloud and hybrid IT environments. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close within the quarter. Recent mega breaches and growing compliance and audit demands have increased the need to control and manage the credentials and activities of privileged users who have unfettered access to high-value systems that store and process sensitive information. Acquiring Xceedium will extend CA’s security portfolio, giving customers a comprehensive solution for controlling and protecting IT administrator or other privileged user accounts from external attacks or insider mistakes and malicious misuse. Premier Inc. @PremierHA and Healthcare Insights @InsightsBuzz – Premier, Inc. (NASDAQ: PINC), a healthcare improvement company, announced it has acquired Healthcare Insights, LLC for $65 million in cash. Healthcare Insights is a privately-held, integrated financial management software developer that provides hospitals and healthcare systems with budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity and cost analytic capabilities.“As the healthcare industry becomes more complex, value-driven, and data-dependent, the need for health systems to clearly understand their performance in every arena is a top concern,” said Keith J. Figlioli, Premier’s senior vice president of health informatics. “It is not enough to have financial, operational and clinical data. Laurel Bridge Software and Veteran’s Health Administration @DeptVetAffairs – Laurel Bridge Software, a provider of medical imaging workflow solutions that simplify image enablement of the healthcare enterprise, announces their Compass™ DICOM image routing solution is being implemented across the entire Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) VistA Imaging system. VistA Imaging, the national system that enables VA hospitals to maintain an enterprise-wide paperless and filmless EHR, captures over 468 million images annually. While currently used at 10 of the 21 VISN’s within the VA system, managing a wide range of medical imaging workflows, Compass will now be deployed across the entire VistA Imaging system. Nine Boston HealthNet Community Health Centers will replace their current vendor with OCHIN’s EHR, practice management, and patient engagement solutions. Boston HealthNet (BHN) is a recognized Health Center Controlled Network comprised of Boston Medical Center, Boston University School of Medicine, and 14 affiliated Community Health Centers (CHCs). BHN will be joining OCHIN’s collaborative, receiving full support for data conversion, project management, network and hardware technical assistance, training, and configuration of the OCHIN system.
