Panelists:

Joe Kimura, MD MPH is Chief Medical Officer of Atrius Health and an internist at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, a medical practice of Atrius Health. He has broad experience leading ambulatory care delivery system improvements with specialty expertise in clinical informatics and healthcare data analytics. Dr. Kimura has held multiple positions within Atrius Health including Medical Director for Analytics and Reporting Systems and Medical Director for Quality Measurement. Since 2014, he has served as co-chair of the ONC HIT federal advisory workgroup on Advanced Health Models and Meaningful Use. Dr. Kimura has been nationally recognized as a Top 25 Clinical Informaticists by Modern Healthcare in 2012 and one of thirty leading CMIO experts by Health Data Management in 2016.

Dr. Kimura was an undergraduate at Stanford University, received his medical degree from Washington University, and his public health degree from Harvard University. He completed his primary care internal medicine residency at the University of California in San Francisco and his health services research fellowship in the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Medical School. He completed the advanced management program at MIT Sloan School of Management with certification in Management, Innovation, and Technology.

Craig Monsen is a board-certified internist and clinical informaticist. He serves as the Medical Director of Analytics and Reporting at Atrius Health, is a fellow at the University of Washington’s Department of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education, and has co-founded two health IT startups. His current work includes operationalizing advanced analytics to enable the transformation to value-based care as well as building new products that help clinicians make sense of the deluge of patient data they face today.

Prior to medical training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, he received Highest Honors in engineering and computer science at Harvard and completed his MD at Johns Hopkins, where he served as the President of the Medical Student Senate.

Simon Beaulah is director of healthcare strategy at Linguamatics. With so much unstructured text associated with patient records and a major market requirement for natural language processing (NLP) in healthcare, this is a key focus area for Linguamatics. Simon is leading the development and marketing of healthcare products based on I2E that improve patient outcomes, reduce risk and enhance insight.

With extensive experience in translational medicine, healthcare analytics and ontology building, Simon is well placed to work with the Linguamatics team to deliver the expected growth in this market for use of NLP. Simon has been working in life science and healthcare informatics for more than 20 years, initially in research and over the past 14 years for informatics vendors including Synomics, LION bioscience,
BioWisdom, InforSense, and IDBS. Simon has degrees from Aston University and Cranfield Institute of Technology.
