HIMSS18 Recaps and Commentary

What’s a HIMSS without reliving and dissecting it for weeks after as we nurse our HIMSS hangovers? Apparently what happens in Vegas did not stay in Vegas. Let the commentary begin.

Don’t miss the #HITsm Chat – Friday 3/16 at noon ET. The topic will be A Look Back at #HIMSS18.

Our radio host Matt Ferrari of CTO Talk spent some time around AI and ML this HIMSS. He is “most excited about seeing IT as part of the solution in healthcare.” Read his post, Healthcare IT in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Our radio host Matt Fisher of Healthcare de Jure attended the conference as a Social Media Ambassador. Matt says “the mood during HIMSS is one of optimism and energy. It is hard to sustain those feelings throughout and across years. However, all must remember that the goal is to create a better system that results in better quality and respects everyone attached to the healthcare system.” Read his post, Reflections from HIMSS18.

Telling it like it is as they always do, the Chilmark Team take on what they saw and heard on the analytics front in Give Us Your Data – Is it Really That Easy? You can also find more conference recaps from the team in their updates posts.

Craig Joseph, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer at Avaap where he works with healthcare leaders to implement and optimize technology in order to increase physician satisfaction, improve efficiency, and ensure full value of the technology. So what did he see and learn this year at HIMSS? And he did a pretty good job on his predictions of what we would see.

I had a schedule conflict when the #HealthITchicks had their meetup, but with all the sharing and tweeting it looked like another great meeting. Check out their hashtag and Jennifer’s recap – Making Ladders Lateral: A Recap of the #HealthITChicks #HIMSS18 Meetup.

The #Pinksocks tribe showed up and recruited more to the cause. If you missed their meetup check out their hashtag and get involved. And learn more about Nick and the cause.
