VitalHealth Software, provider of web-based solutions for collaborative health management established by Mayo Clinic and the Noaber Foundation, has announced the release of a cloud based next generation EHR solution for eye care practices. The VitalHealth EHR will be available to eye care providers exclusively through Uprise, a practice management and EHR solution from VisionWeb, a provider of cloud-based solutions for eye care professionals.

Nuance Communications, Inc. has announced more than 750 developers in numerous countries have joined its healthcare developer community. This milestone coincides with enhancements to Nuance’s 360 | SpeechAnywhere Services, which provides improvements in accuracy and increased customization of medical vocabularies. These latest enhancements to Nuance’s cloud-based speech recognition services allow developers to easily integrate the fastest, most reliable medical speech recognition with their healthcare applications.

The Children’s Care Alliance (CCA) is working closely with Alere Accountable Care Solutions (ACS) to create a health information exchange (HIE) for underserved children in the Lehigh Valley area of northeastern Pennsylvania. A healthcare certification program — launched early this year to help address one of the industry’s most challenging issues, the incompatibility of many software and IT systems – has certified the first group of health IT products.  Under the pilot program, a joint initiative of IHE USA and ICSA Labs, the products met rigorous testing requirements for security and interoperability. The certified products are offered by eight health-IT vendors: Baxter Healthcare Corporation, B. Braun Medical Inc., CareFusion Corporation, Corepoint Health, Greenway Medical Technologies Inc., Hospira Inc., InterSystems Corporation and Masimo Corporation. Products were tested and certified to meet requirements in the IHE Patient Care Device or IHE IT infrastructure domains which specify capabilities related to medical device interoperability, clinical-document sharing, patient identification, audit logging and security.

Phoebe Putney Health System has chosen the MU Assistant® cloud-based software solution from SA Ignite to streamline and automate their “last mile” of achieving Meaningful Use (MU) and attesting for Medicare incentive payments. MU Assistant® has been dubbed the “TurboTax® for Meaningful Use reporting” for its ability to automate MU reporting and enable one-click electronic attestation to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
