Day 8 of our 12 Days of Christmas Posts has the maids making their lists and checking them twice. Number 8 – Inc. 5000 2017: Annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America.
This year’s list is no different from previous years when it comes to health technology companies. You can find them throughout the “health” and “IT services” industry categories. Congratulations to our friends at Health Catalyst, moving up for 5 years now landing at #318 this year.

Number 7 – 52 great health systems to know: 2017
Back in the spring, Becker’s (the king of lists to us) compiled 52 health systems you should know. Their editorial team developed this list “through internal research, considering systems recognized by organizations such as Truven Health Analytics and U.S. News & World Report. We also considered the system’s clinical quality record and reputation for patient satisfaction and innovation.”

Number 6 – US News & World Report Best Hospitals
This annual report is considered the gold standard when it comes to hospital rankings. You can also view their honor rolls by specialty, children’s, and state.

Number 5 – 2017 Overall Best in KLAS Awards
Who ranks as the top-performing healthcare IT and services companies based on customer feedback? According to the “2017 Best in KLAS: Software & Services” report published Jan. 30, 2017, it’s Epic, Optimum Healthcare IT, and Premier. This trio received overall Best in KLAS awards.

Number 3 – Modern Healthcare 2017 Year in Review
This list takes you through 2017 highlighting by the month. For much of 2017, attention was on efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. By the end of the year, though, industry trends pointed toward the market reshaping itself through mergers and new offerings.

Number 2 – Definitive Healthcare – Top Health Systems: Mergers, Acquisitions, Affiliations
HCA Healthcare, the largest health system by all three measures (beds, hospitals, and net revenue), was a major player in mergers and acquisitions throughout 2017. According to Definitive Healthcare data, HCA Healthcare reported 19 merger and acquisition announcements from January to October 2017. If the trends seen in 2017 continue, HCA Healthcare, Ascension Health, and CHI will likely top the 2018 list of greatest number of affiliations, with CHS and Tenet falling behind.
