CMS Events this Week
The 8th Annual National Health IT Week this year will be September 16–20, 2013. The week raises awareness of Health Information Technology’s power to improve the health and health care of patients all across the nation, and at lower cost. National Health IT Week celebrates the efforts that have been made—and are being made—in the transformation of how care is delivered and paid for and how patients engage in their own health and health care.
CMS is holding a series of eHealth webinars to educate the health care community about available programs and resources during National Health IT Week September 16-20.
Monday
In honor of Health IT Week, WEDI is partnering with CMS in a webinar on eHealth, September 16th. Join Robert Tagalicod, Director of CMS’ Office of E-Health Standards and Services (OESS), and Robert Anthony, Deputy Director of the OESS HIT Group, on Monday, September 16 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm ET to learn more about the CMS eHealth initiative. Presented in conjunction with WEDI as part of National Health IT Week, OESS Director Tagalicod will explain how eHealth plays a central role in CMS’ health IT efforts, and how CMS is working with groups like WEDI to advance health care through eHealth. Deputy Director Anthony will provide an overview of the eHealth programs and explain how they are working to improve health care. Register for this event.

In honor of Health IT Week, WEDI is partnering with CMS in a webinar on ICD-10, September 18th at 12 pm ET. Join Denesecia Green, Senior Health Insurance Specialist with the Administrative Simplification Group at CMS, for a basic overview of ICD-10, how it differs from ICD-9, and the steps health care practices should take to transition to ICD-10. Ms. Green will also discuss the tools and resources CMS offers to help practices with the ICD-10 transition. A portion of the webinar will also be dedicated to Q&A. Register for this event.
