Dr. Barad is the chief digital and information officer at Allegheny Health Network, where he leads the deployment of technology to enhance the reach, access and effectiveness of AHN’s clinical care delivery, with a focus on both the patient and clinician experience relative to electronic health records, artificial-intelligence-powered data analytics, wearable devices, and other virtual tools and platforms. Prior to joining AHN in the Spring of 2022, Dr. Barad worked as the clinical lead for Baylor Scott & White’s Digital Health Office and as a pediatric gastroenterologist.

Joshua graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Toronto. During his medical training, he co-led a research project at UHN on hospital readmissions and sat on UHN’s physician advisory group for post-hospital discharge follow up. As a result, Joshua was inspired to develop technology to better support patients and prevent adverse outcomes such as a readmission – which ultimately led to him co-founding SeamlessMD.
