Study confirms pelvic floor patients overwhelmingly prefer “in-person” to “virtual-only” for at home care
Luna (@getlunacare), a provider of in-home physical therapy, has unveiled a new patient study, which casts doubt on virtual-only care for pelvic floor disorders.

In March 2022, Telehealth Utilization Fell Nationally for Second Straight Month
In March 2022, telehealth utilization, as measured by telehealth’s share of all medical claim lines, fell nationally for the second straight month, according to FAIR Health’s (@fairhealth) Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker.1 Following a drop of 9.3 percent in February, telehealth utilization decreased 6.1 percent in March, declining from 4.9 percent of all medical claim lines in February to 4.6 percent in March.

CirrusMD Announces FedRAMP “In Process” Designation
CirrusMD (@CirrusMD), a provider of on-demand virtual primary care, announced that its certification for the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is “In Process” through partnership with the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). Currently, CirrusMD delivers access to healthcare services to millions of Veterans throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Once FedRAMP Authorization is achieved, other government agencies and organizations will be able to securely access its integrated telehealth platform.

Bicycle Health Announces $50 Million Series B to Scale Virtual Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Model Nationwide
Bicycle Health (@BicycleHealth), a provider of virtual opioid addiction treatment, announced a Series B funding round of $50 million led by InterAlpen Partners, bringing the company’s total funds raised to $83 million.

Carilion Clinic Partners with TytoCare to Expand Telehealth Offerings with Remote Physical Examinations
TytoCare (@TytoCare), the global healthcare industry’s first all-in-one modular device and examination solution for AI-powered, remote medical exams, is partnering with Carilion Clinic, a not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Roanoke, Virginia. The integration of TytoCare into Carilion’s current virtual care offerings enhances the health system’s ability to diagnose and treat patients remotely with in-depth, physical examinations during virtual visits.

Boulder Care raises $36M to grow telehealth platform to treat opioid addiction
Boulder Care (@bouldercare), the Portland startup using telehealth to treat people with substance use disorder, has raised $36 million in new funding.

Populus Media and Doceree Form Exclusive Partnership for Programmatic HCP Messaging in Telehealth
Populus Media (@populus_media), a company in marketing and patient acquisition solutions leveraging telehealth and virtual care, and Doceree (@doceree), a global platform building solutions for HCP programmatic marketing with proprietary data tools, announced an exclusive partnership to bring programmatic advertising to healthcare professionals (HCPs) within telehealth and virtual care.

HHS Announces $16.3 Million to Expand Telehealth Care in the Title X Family Planning Program
The Department of Health and Human Services (@hhsgov) awarded $16.3 million in grant funding to support 31 grantees to enhance and expand the telehealth infrastructure and capacity of Title X family planning clinics in 26 states, one U.S. territory, and one freely associated state. Title X is the only federal grant program dedicated solely to providing individuals with comprehensive family planning and related preventive health services in communities across the U.S.

Medical boards get guidance on setting rules for telemedicine
With the COVID-19 pandemic making telemedicine a household word, the Federation of State Medical Boards (@theFSMB) has updated its telemedicine policy (PDF) for the first time in nearly a decade. The policy tackles areas such as licensure, standards of care and equitable access to telemedicine.

Defining the Industry According to the AAFP:

Telemedicine is the practice of medicine using technology to deliver care at a distance. It occurs using a telecommunications infrastructure between a patient (at an originating or spoke site) and a physician or other practitioner licensed to practice medicine (at a distant or hub site).

Virtual Care is a patient service model for healthcare providers.

Telehealth refers to a broad collection of electronic and telecommunications technologies that support health care delivery and services from distant locations. Telehealth technologies support virtual medical, health, and education services.
