Arizona – AZ Health-eConnection (AZHeC)
Operated by AzHeC (@azhec), The Network is Arizona’s non-profit statewide health information exchange (HIE) that enables improvements in care coordination and quality by electronically linking health care organizations across the state through a single connection and filling gaps in patient information.
New Career Opportunities – Arizona Health Connect has several positions open and is looking for qualified candidates. AzHeC’s current CIO will be transitioning to a Chief Strategy Officer role in early 2017 and due to this transition, they are looking to fill the CIO role in addition to several others.
Ohio – CliniSync
CliniSync (@CliniSync) is a nonprofit, independent, private organization originally funded from HITECH and the ONC. The Ohio Health Information Partnership assisted providers in EHR adoption and the infrastructure for statewide HIE. It was named CliniSync, which signifies Clinical data synchronization.
CliniSync Connects 126 Hospitals, 1,500 Organizations – CliniSync continues to expand and now has 126 hospitals and 1,500 organizations working cooperatively to make Ohio’s Health Information Exchange one of the most robust in the nation. There are no hospitals waiting or working to get connected.
Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL)
VITL (@VITLVT) is the nonprofit organization that advances health care reform efforts in Vermont through the use of health information technology, and is the legislatively designated operator of the state’s Vermont Health Information Exchange (VHIE).
VITL Appoints Healthcare Data Analyst – VITL recently named Leanne Shulman as its new healthcare data analyst. In this position, Shulman will be responsible for performing complex data analyses—using VITL’s data warehouse—for internal business and client use. She will also provide problem solving capabilities for VITL’s clinical analysis and process improvement procedures. Shulman joined VITL after working as a public health analyst for the Vermont Department of Health.
Summit ’16: Navigating the Health IT Landscape – At the beginning of October VITL hosted Summit ’16. The annual Summit is an important event for VITL and the participants as there are few opportunities in the New England region for over 300 professionals and consumers to gather and learn about advances in health information technology. VITL is celebrating the success of this most recent Summit and is providing Speaker presentations available for download. Videos and photos will also be available soon.
New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)
The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.
Healthix CEO to Participate in Multi-Stakeholder DSRIP Session at The New York eHealth Collaborative’s 2016 Digital Health Conference – – Healthix (@healthix), a regional HIE in the SHIN-NY network recently announced that Tom Check, President and CEO of Healthix, will be part of a dynamic group of health IT leaders presenting at The New York eHealth Collaborative’s 2016 Digital Health Conference this December 6-7 in New York City. The conference will bring together 500 senior-level executives from across New York’s healthcare community for two days of networking, exploration, and dynamic conversation addressing how healthcare is being redefined through technology.
Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)
CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange (HIE) networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.
CORHIO Announces Additions to Executive Team – CORHIO has plans to expand their data driven products and services in 2017 and beyond to meet the demands of their customers and the Colorado healthcare community. To better manage these initiatives CORHIO has expanded its leadership team. Kelly Joines has been named Chief Strategy Officer, Kate Horle has been named Chief Operations Officer, and Robert Denson has been named Chief Information Officer.
Michigan – Great Lakes Health Connect (GLHC)
Great Lakes Health Connect (@GLHC_HIE) is one of the largest and most successful Health Information Exchanges in the country and is growing rapidly. GLHC is committed to creating care-connected communities across Michigan. Their vision is to enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs across the continuum of care.
Midwest HIEs Partner to Develop Patient Centered Data Home – GLHC is participating in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the National Coordinator’s recently announced Cooperative Agreement program. The initiative, known as “The Heartland Project” will be undertaken in cooperation with the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) to create and test a concept called the Patient Centered Data Home™ (PCDH). Participating organizations in the Heartland Project will share the award from HHS to pilot the PCDH over a period of 12 months. The Heartland Project is being led by The Health Collaborative (@hcollaborative), a HIE based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Five other Midwest HIEs, in addition to GLHC, are participating in the initiative. They include the Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) based in Indianapolis, Ind., HealthLINC (@healthlinchie) based in Bloomington, Ind., East Tennessee Health Information Network based in Knoxville, Tenn., Michigan Health Information Network (#MiHIN) based in South Bend, Ind., and The Kentucky Health Information Exchange based in Frankfort, Ky.
iSpecimen and Great Lakes Health Connect Announce Collaboration to Drive Medical Research – iSpecimen, a source of customized human biospecimen collections, announced an agreement with GLHC. This agreement will drive medical innovation by making human biospecimens and associated data from within the GLHC network available to research programs. With 129 hospital participants as well as 4,000 primary, specialty, and allied care organization members, GLHC participants manage more than 90% of the hospital beds in the state and over seven million individual patient records.
Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)
UHIN (#UHIN) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.
UHIN Appoints New COO and CIO – UHIN recently appointed Candace Czerny as Chief Operating Officer, and Andrew Burchett to the position of Chief Information Officer. Prior to her appointment as COO, Ms. Czerny served as UHIN’s Director of Business Development while Mr. Burchett most recently served as the lead infrastructure and security architect at a financial transactions firm.
Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN)
KHIN capitalizes on the unique strengths that local communities and regions bring to the HIE and ensure that individual regions or communities have the decision-making authority to address local or regional health-care initiatives.
KHIN and HIETexas Establish Connection; Enhance Medical Care Across State Lines – KHIN has expanded its network across state lines by connecting with Health Information Exchange Texas (@HIETexas), a “network of networks,” made available by the Texas Health Services Authority. THSA connects local HIEs within Texas to each other and with networks across the nation through the eHealth Exchange. The new alliance will not only benefit patients but also Kansas and Texas providers by helping them meet the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requirements for Meaningful Use.
Missouri – Missouri Health Connection (MHC)
Missouri Health Connection (@HealthConnectMO), a non‐profit organization, is the state‐designated HIE organization that provides a secure and private electronic platform for sharing health information.
Missouri Health Connection Celebrates Six Years – Congratulations to Missouri Health Connection for celebrating six years in existence, marking a milestone in health care provider information sharing technology. Created in 2010, MHC is now a self-sustaining non-profit HIE providing a secure and private electronic network for sharing health information for care coordination, improving communication, efficiency and quality of care for all Missourians. “In our short history we’ve made great strides to link health care providers with clinical patient information that reduces errors, avoids duplication and cuts health care costs,” said Angie Bass, Interim President and CEO, MHC, “We are a thriving technology start-up company.”
