State Health Information Exchanges (HIE) come in all shapes and sizes but have one thing in common: To improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care delivered in their states. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority HIE

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority HIE is intended to meet the needs of end-users, allowing providers and their patients, hospitals and health systems, purchasers and payers, state health agencies and local health departments, health information business associates, as well as an increasingly inclusive ecosystem of human service organizations, to have secure, accurate data available at the right time, in the right place, for the right purposes.

Orion Health Selected to Deliver a State-Wide Health Information Exchange in Oklahoma – Orion Health (@OrionHealth), a provider of population health management solutions, announced it has been selected by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) to deliver a state-wide health information exchange (HIE).

California – SacValley MedShare

SacValley MedShare (@svmshie) is a member of the California Association of Health Information Exchanges (CAHIE) and serves the 16-county region of California, north of Sacramento, which includes the North Central Valley and the surrounding mountainous terrain. Its region is largely rural and mountainous, with travel limited by climate and season in much of the area. Good communication is critical to coordinate care between primary care, specialists, hospital providers, and skilled nursing care facilities that fulfill a vital role in post-discharge care for many patients.

Partnership With Konza – SacValley MedShare has partnered with KONZA for specific management services. Led by the President & CEO Laura McCrary, EdD, KONZA is a national HIE platform of technology and services that has a proven track record of positive results.

healtheConnect Alaska

healtheConnect Alaska (@akehealth) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, organized and managed by Alaskans and tasked by the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services, to provide safe, secure transport for health information in order to improve quality and safety of patient care and increase efficiencies for hospitals and medical practices. healtheConnect Alaska provides health information exchange and direct secure messaging services to more than 20 hospitals and 450 healthcare organizations across Alaska.

AK Health Information Exchange Consortium Boosts Interoperability – HealtheConnect Alaska announced that it has joined a collaboration of HIEs to better support patients and healthcare providers through improved interoperability. The Alaskan-owned and -operated organization will join CRISP Shared Services, an organization that serves four other HIEs.

Arizona – Health Current

Health Current (@AZHealthCurrent), is a partner that gives providers the information they need to make better clinical decisions and keep people healthy. The HIE believes more complete information is more meaningful. It makes healthcare transformation possible. And Health Current is central to this progress, integrating information technology and care delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN)

Georgia Health Information Network (@GeorgiaHIE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a healthier Georgia by facilitating the use and secure exchange of electronic health information so providers have the information they need at the point of care. GaHIN’s two products, GeorgiaDirect and Georgia ConnectedCare, connect providers statewide and nationally and are free for credentialed, authorized Georgia users.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)

CORHIO200CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.

HIMSS National Conference to Feature CORHIO Leadership – CORHIO is honored to be selected to present two sessions at the 2021 Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference, Aug. 9-13 at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas. CORHIO will be joined by two of our state partners from the Office of eHealth Innovation and Colorado’s Office of Behavioral Health.

Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)

The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.

Michigan Health Information Network Awarded Funding – MiHIN announced that it has been awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) as part of its Strengthening the Technical Advancement and Readiness of Public Health Agencies via Health Information Exchange Program (STAR HIE Program).

Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)

UHIN (@UHIN_HIE) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.

UHIN Partners on New Joint Venture, BeyondHIE – Four health care organizations are partnering to create a new company focused on helping HIEs and their communities, payers and providers improve health outcomes. The newly formed partnership, known as BeyondHIE, will offer a comprehensive suite of services, technology and project management to support value-based care. BeyondHIE, a nonprofit organization, will support health care organizations by bringing together health data partners and enabling that data to be scaled and enhanced. The four companies joining together are Comagine Health, Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE), Orion Health and the Utah Health Information Network (UHIN).

Quality Health Network (QHN)

Quality Health Network is a not-for-profit community partnership, established in 2004 to support the adoption of health information technology, provide health information exchange services and promote innovative uses of electronic health information for improved healthcare outcomes. QHN’s uniquely connected technology allows its network to not just exchange information, but enhance care coordination, and support the data needs of high value applications.

QHN Honored as A Statewide Champion in Quality Improvement – Telligen QI Connect, a national Health Quality Improvement organization that QHN partners with, has recognized QHN as a Community Quality Champion and awarded us with the 2020 Community Quality Champion Award.

CyncHealth

CyncHealth’s mission is to bring trust and value to health information technology by creating solutions for moving health data forward. CyncHealth is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a public/private governance model that includes health care providers, payers, and the State of Nebraska. CyncHealth is the designated statewide Health Information Exchange designed to share clinical and administrative data among providers in Nebraska and neighboring states. CyncHealth’s purpose is to achieve health care transformation through community betterment collaboration while protecting the security and privacy of medical information.

Population Health RFP Update – CyncHealth received 24 Letters of Intent and 16 proposals in response to the Request for Proposals (RFP) for a population health solution. In January 2021, CyncHealth began a series of demos from 13 selected vendors based on weighted feedback from the review committee. CyncHealth selected our new vendor at the beginning of May 2021. We look forward to formally announcing the partnership after contracting is complete.

Idaho Health Data Exchange (IDHE)

The Idaho Health Data Exchange (@idahohde), a non-profit 501(c)(3) company, is Idaho’s statewide Health Information Exchange, dedicated to meeting the needs of healthcare providers and ensuring that Idaho’s citizens receive the most effective health services possible. To achieve these goals, IHDE is working with a wide-array of stakeholders and actively building a best in breed technology infrastructure to provide access to reliable data and information, combining traditional healthcare data with other data sources to help address the medical, behavioral, and social needs that influence the well-being of Idahoans.

The SHIEC HIE community and other health IT, public health, and healthcare colleagues will convene at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona on August 15 – 18, 2021 for education, sharing, and networking. The theme this year is The Role of Health Information Exchange: Innovation in Public Health, Partnerships, and Pandemic Response. The 7th annual conference will be co-hosted by Arizona’s own Health Current and Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO). SHIEC is working on a hybrid conference approach this year (a combination of in-person and virtual attendance), and as the SHIEC Events Committee prepares for SHIEC21, we will continue to monitor the national and local progress in responding to the COVID pandemic and the vaccine rollout.
