The Hawai`i Health Information Exchange (Hawai`i HIE)

The Hawai‘i HIE is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 2006 to enhance care coordination, to improve the health outcomes of Hawai‘i’s patients and reduce the cost of care for both patients and healthcare providers. To support these goals, in September 2009, Hawai‘i HIE was designated by the state to develop a seamless, effective, and secure statewide health information exchange that ultimately links to the nationwide health information network. Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange is a robust, interoperable data exchange system that enables all health care providers, health plans, clinics, and hospitals to contribute and access complete health information with confidence. This secure exchange empowers participants to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of whole-person care, enhancing health outcomes for patients and reducing health care costs for the community.

Hawaii Health Information Exchange Introduces Proactive Privacy Monitoring Solution – Beginning May 1, 2019, HHIE will monitor each user’s Health eNet activity using an industry-leading proactive privacy monitoring solution called FairWarning®. The FairWarning® solution will help ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and Health eNet Operational Policies and Procedures.

California – Manifest Medex

Manifest MedEx is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health information exchanges (HIEs), combining 11.7 million claims records from Blue Shield of California and Anthem Blue Cross and 5 million clinical patient records from 150 participating partners. Manifest MedEx supports physicians, nurses, hospitals and health plans in sharing critical health information to ensure that patients receive the safest, highest-quality care possible. The California Integrated Data Exchange and Inland Empire Health Information Exchange merged to create Manifest Medex.

17 Million Records Now on California’s Health Data Network, Manifest MedEx – It’s been just over two years since Manifest MedEx formed to connect health information for patients and providers across the state of California. The statewide network now has more than 400 participating hospitals, health plans, and provider organizations exchanging information in real time for 17 million people — approximately 40 percent of Californians. By unlocking health data from silos, Manifest MedEx is helping health leaders reduce costs, enhance care, and improve patient experience.

California – SacValley MedShare

SacValley MedShare (@svmshie) is a member of the California Association of Health Information Exchanges (CAHIE) and serves the 16-county region of California, north of Sacramento, which includes the North Central Valley and the surrounding mountainous terrain. Its region is largely rural and mountainous, with travel limited by climate and season in much of the area. Good communication is critical to coordinate care between primary care, specialists, hospital providers, and skilled nursing care facilities that fulfill a vital role in post-discharge care for many patients.

SVMS Awarded $3.5 Million For EMS Integration – SacValley MedShare has been awarded $3.5 million to integrate EMS transport agencies and receiving hospitals in 15 of the counties that it serves. This will connect 2 local EMS agencies, Nor-Cal EMS and Sierra-Sacramento Valley EMS and includes connections of 22 ambulance companies to 17 receiving hospitals.

Quality Health Network (QHN)

Quality Health Network (@QualityHealthN1) is a not-for-profit community partnership, established in 2004 to support the adoption of health information technology, provide health information exchange services and promote innovative uses of electronic health information for improved healthcare outcomes. QHN’s uniquely connected technology allows its network to not just exchange information, but enhance care coordination, and support the data needs of high value applications.

HealtHIE Nevada

HealtHIE Nevada (@HealtHIENevada) is a private, nonprofit, community-based HIE dedicated to connecting healthcare organizations by managing real time, secure, and accurate exchange of clinical information. HealtHIE Nevada operates throughout the entire state, and is the only HIE open and available to the entire Nevada healthcare community.

HealtHIE Nevada announces collaboration with the Nevada Hospital Association(NHA) and Collective Medical – HealtHIE Nevada announces collaboration with the Nevada Hospital Association(NHA) and Collective Medical, the nation’s most effective network for care collaboration. Focused on reducing avoidable hospital readmissions, the effort combines the depth of HealtHIE Nevada’s data with Collective’s nationwide network, clinical interoperability functionality, and user generated content and insights, to arm the NHA member hospitals to better identify and support vulnerable patients at risk for readmission.

HealtHIE Nevada Partners with RosettaHealth to Enhance Connectivity, Efficiency of Nevada’s Health Information Exchange = HealtHIE Nevada has partnered with RosettaHealth to accelerate and improve the connectivity of providers’ electronic health records. Under the partnership and effective immediately, HealtHIE Nevada utilizes RosettaHealth’s HealthBus solution as a “universal translator” of health data transport protocols.

Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII)

Nebraska Health Information Initiative (@NeHIIorg) is leading the effort to create a secure, online, web-based Health Information Exchange designed to serve the state of Nebraska. Improved delivery of health care information and reduced health care costs are good for all citizens of Nebraska. The state has a proud tradition and reputation of providing the finest health care possible to its citizens. The HIE will help health care providers take health care to the next level.

State Of Nebraska Selects NIC Inc.’S RxGov® As Its New Prescription Drug Monitoring Platform – NIC Inc., a provider of innovative digital government solutions, has been selected to provide its RxGov prescription drug monitoring platform to the State of Nebraska to help address prescription opioid issues and further promote patient safety. The agreement includes a five-year base contract, plus two, one-year renewals, which could extend it through September 2026. The contract was awarded to NIC by the regional health information exchange, the Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII) who will oversee the Nebraska Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Arizona – Health Current

Health Current (@AZHealthCurrent), is a partner that gives providers the information they need to make better clinical decisions and keep people healthy. The HIE believes more complete information is more meaningful. It makes healthcare transformation possible. And Health Current is central to this progress, integrating information technology and care delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Maine – HealthInfoNet

HealthInfoNet (@hinfonet) is a Maine-based, independent nonprofit designated by the State of Maine to operate Maine’s statewide health information exchange. The HIE links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record. This record is accessible to a patient’s authorized health care providers to support treatment. HealthInfoNet provides a secure, standardized electronic system where health care providers can share important patient information, giving them the tools they need to make more informed treatment decisions, especially in an emergency.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)

CORHIO200CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.

CORHIO Partnering with Office of Behavioral Health to Connect Colorado Jails to HIE – The Office of Behavioral Health, CORHIO and Quality Health Network (Colorado’s two state HIEs) are collaborating on a program funded by the state that will provide jails with access to clinical data. The goals are to create positive health outcomes for this vulnerable population, reduce recidivism and create healthier communities.

CORHIO Announces New Chief Legal Officer – The CORHIO board of directors and executive leadership team are pleased to welcome Annie Harrington to her new role as Chief Legal Officer. Harrington most recently held the position of Principal in the Denver office of international law firm, Squire Patton Boggs. In her role, she provided regular legal counsel on data privacy, regulatory compliance, and public policy matters to healthcare clients, including CORHIO. She brings a great deal of expertise on HIPAA, HITECH, and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance and is accustomed to negotiating complex data agreements with unique data privacy questions and to devising and executing public policy strategies at the state and federal levels.

Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)

MI-MiHIN-200The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.

MiHIN to Host 2019 Connectathon for Healthcare and Finance Sectors – MiHIN will host the 2019 Connectathon for finance and healthcare industries, exploring parallels and synergies between the two industries to create innovative new solutions to unsolved problems dealing with data using open application program interfaces and patterns that work in other industries.

Use Case Factory And ‘Interoperability Land’ For Data Sharing At Scale – A nonprofit public-private collaboration has developed a successful and repeatable methodology to “mass produce data sharing by figuring out what not to do,” says Tim Pletcher, DHA, executive director of Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN). The counterintuitive approach relies on multiple stakeholders agreeing to concrete, actionable types of data-sharing activity and “pay or penalty” incentives to adopt use cases as a priority in their organization.

New pilot program saves Michigan medical examiners time, efficiency for tracking down medical records – MiHIN has launched a new pilot program in collaboration with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMU) and Occupational Research Assessment (ORA) in January 2019 to help medical examiners quickly process healthcare information for deceased individuals.

Michigan – Great Lakes Health Connect (GLHC)

Great Lakes Health Connect (@GLHC_HIE) is one of the largest and most successful Health Information Exchanges in the country and is growing rapidly. GLHC is committed to creating care-connected communities across Michigan. Their vision is to enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs across the continuum of care.

GLHC Named by GVSU as 2019 Outstanding Internship Employer of the Year – Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has recognized Great Lakes Health Connect as a 2019 Outstanding Internship Employer of the Year.

Texas – Healthcare Access San Antonio (HASA)

TX-hasa_twitterHealthcare Access San Antonio (@HASA_TX) offers value-based, patient-centered information services intended to improve the health status of individuals and the communities it serves. HASA brings together healthcare providers from larger health systems to single physician practices-to enable the secure exchange of health information throughout Central Texas, ensuring that providers have this information securely at their fingertips when and where they need it.

HASA HIE Promotes Phil Beckett, PhD, to Chief Executive Officer – HASA recently announced that it has promoted Dr. Phil Beckett to CEO of the organization. Gijs Van Oort, PhD, recently stepped down as CEO.

New Mexico Health Information Collaborative (NMHIC)

LCF Research, a New Mexico nonprofit organization with a community board, New Mexico Health Information Collaborative (NMHIC) was established in 1990 as a non-profit organization to foster health services research among physicians, hospitals, health plans, and academic institutions, and to provide continuing professional education for healthcare professionals. LCF Research expanded its core mission in 2004 to include health information technology and now operates The New Mexico Health Information Exchange (NMHIC HIE).

Collaboration is Key for Comprehensive Health Data in New Mexico – NMHIC has successfully created a secure exchange of patient health information used both within New Mexico as well as for their bordering states. This Health Information Exchange (HIE) is constantly growing and receives data from 58% of New Mexico Hospital beds, 73% of emergency department admissions, and 80% of overall admissions. A variety of organizations across the care spectrum participate, including hospital groups, physician groups, laboratories, hospice and many more.
