REC Update – New England

The 60 Regional Extension Centers are located in 9 regional areas. So just what are they up to? This is the start of a new series of posts to keep you updated on the RECs. The posts will focus on one area. Today’s post is checking in on the Northeast New England area and its five Centers.

Connecticut – eHealthConnecticut
The CT REC is soliciting for Channel Partners. If you are a Connecticut Physician Organization, Hospital System, or other provider-oriented organization that is interested in becoming a partner with the eHealthConnecticut REC, contact them for more information.

Maine – HealthInfoNet
The MEREC will be vetting electronic health record (EHR) product and implementation and optimization organization (IOO) vendors to ensure best price and quality for participating providers. Supported vendors will be posted on their site when the RFQ process is complete. The final responses for interested entities is due 10/6/2010 by 3:00 pm. Selections and announcement will follow.

Massachusetts – Massachusetts e-Health Institute (MeHI)
MeHI’s Regional Extension Center has selected their Implementation and Optimization Organizations (IOO) and electronic health record (EHR) vendors to supply and install EHRs.  In addition, MeHI is offering a financing program through Webster Bank to fund the installation, implementation and training for providers who implement EHRs. Review the certified lists.

Rhode Island – Rhode Island Quality Institute
DocEHRtalk.org is now the home of the newly established Rhode Island Regional Extension Center (REC). Physicians are encouraged to join the community and set up a user account. Registration gives you exclusive access to ask questions, give answers, and participate in discussions.

Vermont – Vermont Information Technology Leaders, Inc.
Take the VITL EHR Readiness Assessment Survey, a tool that will help VITL staff to determine how prepared your practice is to deploy an EHR. Using your answers, VITL will be able to craft the best possible package of services  specifically for your practice to help you most efficiently  move towards Meaningful Use. This survey will take about 20 minutes to complete.
