MGMA 2012 Oct. 21 -24
Last year’s MGMA Annual Convention was held in one of our favorite cities, Las Vegas. This year the conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas, a city not unfamiliar to us at HITECH Answers as Roberta lived in Houston for many years while I consider Austin to be my second home.
San Antonio’s many sites include of course the Alamo, its five Spanish Missions (the Alamo being one of them) and Paseo del Río or River Walk, the network of walkways that follow the San Antonio River one story below the streets of downtown. The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is conveniently situated close to the River Walk at 2nd and Market Street.
The MGMA 2012 conference site is up with information on registration, hotel and travel, educational sessions, networking events and more. Twitter hashtag is #MGMA12. If you’re a company looking to get in front of thousands of convention attendees you can explore exhibitor options here.
From a travel standpoint a word to the wise. San Antonio is a big convention city and October is always a packed month. Book your hotel and plane reservations earlier rather than later. There are lots of hotels on and near the River Walk to choose from and convention goers can get some “early bird” rates at the Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott. If you’re the traveler who likes a local flair, check out the Emily Morgan, famous for the ghosts that reportedly walk its halls, or the historic Menger Hotel, also said to be haunted but perhaps more importantly home to one of the best bars in the city. If you’re looking for the real-deal margarita the Menger Bar is where you’ll find it.
As we get closer to the convention date we’ll be posting more about the conference. Until then, remember the Alamo!
