ONC Announces Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to Improve the Interoperability of Health Information
National Coordinator Don Rucker opens conference to announce the long awaited proposed rules. The proposed rule is designed to increase innovation and competition by giving patients and their healthcare providers secure access to health information and new tools, allowing for more choice in care and treatment. It calls on the healthcare industry to adopt standardized application programming interfaces (APIs), which will help allow individuals to securely and easily access structured EHI using smartphone applications.

Interoperabilty Town Hall: Are We Making Progress
HIMSS moderates the second town hall to get a progress report. Panel included Aneesh Chopra, Jitin Asnaani, Elise Sweeney Anthongy, Steve Wretling.
Ten years did not produce any production level addition of standards based content types freely available in a manner that you would expected, so says Anessh Chopra. “The floor became the ceiling.”
