At this year’s HIMSS15 conference in Chicago I had the opportunity to sit down with Tom Butts, CEO of ZirMed. In the video interview, Tom provides some great insights on the following questions:
- What are the key trends he is seeing at HIMSS and in the market in general.
- What are the challenge for healthcare providers in dealing with the rise in patient financial responsibility
- How can providers best prepare and meet the challenges of ICD-10 implementation.

One very surprising factoid from the interview — Tom says uncompensated care is a fifty billion dollar challenge for providers in the U.S., and it’s a growing problem.
ZirMed made recent news just prior to the HIMSS conference with the selection of Chicago for the company’s Healthcare Analytics Center of Excellence. The expansion move is expected to create 200 jobs for the city.
