Event Overview from the HIMSS Website

The work of IHE International is impressive through the collective talents of the industry stakeholders and technology to solve the industry’s most challenging interoperability issues. IHE’s efforts have advanced the use of interoperable systems across the globe and in your local community. In this virtual briefing, understand the positive aspects of implementing IHE’s free profiles and the impact IHE has in major organizations throughout the U.S.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the differences and similarities between interoperability and health information exchange.
  • Describe the approach taken by two different healthcare organizations, implementing IHE profiles, that have achieved interoperable health information systems by exchanging data seamlessly and across the continuum.

11 am-12 pm CT Healtheway: A public/private partnership for eHealth Exchange
Healtheway is a non-profit, public-private partnership that operationally supports the eHealth Exchange. IHE profiles serve as a foundational support for the eHealth Exchange interoperability specifications used among its organizational participants across the country. Learn how IHE profiles support the exchange of data among geographically widely dispersed organizations.

12:15 pm -1:15 pm CT Personal Connected Health: Potential and Progress
IHE’s free profiles support thousands of private and public health providers to solve complicated integration issues and they facilitate improvement in personal connected health. An example will be offered of how IHE profiles have been used to build interoperability in mHealth, particularly telemedicine, and between patients and their providers.

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm CT Health InfoWay: Building Interoperable Health Systems
The Canada Health InfoWay is a strong supporter of IHE and is actively engaged in advancing the use of health information standards by implementing IHE profiles to help build interoperable health care systems. This session will address the practical ways in which InfoWay is using IHE profiles and the success they have achieved in working with providers to integrate their systems and share information.
