The VNA Institute of Technology Hosts Clinical Interoperability Symposium
The VNA Institute of Technology invites all healthcare IT professionals to Challenges and Opportunities of Clinical Interoperability, an informative IT symposium in San Francisco, CA on Monday, March 24th. The event brings together notable IT leaders from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Stanford Hospital and Clinics, and The Advisory Board Company to discuss key issues in clinical image interoperability across the enterprise. Radiologists, cardiologists, hospital executives, CIOs, IT managers and more will attend this unique event. Attendees are not required to belong to VNAIT to attend, but may subscribe to VNAIT.org.

DataMotion Enables 16 EHR Systems to Meet 2014 ONC-ACB Certification Criteria with Direct Secure Messaging

Sixteen Health Information Organizations Join Forces As Founding Members Of The Mid-States Consortium Of Health Information Organizations
Sixteen health information organizations (HIOs), located throughout the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states, announced they will work together to address data exchange challenges across regional and state lines. One of the group’s primary goals is to advocate for more robust forms of health information exchange (HIE), such as query-based HIE, and ensure that health information appropriately follows patients that require health care services outside of their home town or home state. The group is also advocating for the unique needs of rural areas related to health information technology and HIE.

Carequality Launches Significant Industry-Wide Effort Focused on Achieving Interoperability Between Existing and Emerging HIE Networks
Healtheway announced the formation of Carequality (pronounced “care-e-quality”), a new initiative dedicated to accelerating progress in health data exchange among multi-platform networks, healthcare providers, electronic health record (EHR) vendors and health information exchange (HIE) vendors. Carequality is an open, transparent and inclusive industry-driven effort. It will convene stakeholders and facilitate industry consensus to develop and maintain a standards-based interoperability framework that enables information exchange between and among networks.

RelayHealth Financial announced it has achieved full accreditation with the Healthcare Network Accreditation Program (HNAP) for Electronic Health Networks (EHN) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). This accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions, and validates compliance with industry standards and HIPAA regulations. It also marks RelayHealth Financial’s 14th consecutive year of EHNAC HNAP accreditation.

Central Valley Health Information Exchange Joins Inland Empire HIE to Offer California Providers Single-Point Access to Patient Data for Over Five Million Residents via Orion Health™ Collaborative Care
Orion Health, a leading global, privately-held eHealth software organization, announced that Central Valley HIE (CVHIE), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit HIE serving California’s Central Valley region, has joined Inland Empire Health Information Exchange (IEHIE), a self-funded collaborative of Riverside and San Bernardino County hospitals, medical centers, physician practices, health plans, public health organizations and other healthcare providers. The expanded HIE will bring Orion Health’s Collaborative Care clinical information exchange technology and services to healthcare providers serving over two million Central Valley residents.

30+ New York Health IT Executives Call for State Legislature to Fund Statewide Health Information of New York (SHIN-NY)
Thirty-three top New York Health IT investors and entrepreneurs signed a public letter to New York legislators, urging their support for Governor Cuomo’s $65 million funding proposal for the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (the SHIN-NY). “By funding the SHIN-NY,” the letter notes, “New York has the opportunity to lead the nation as the first large state to implement a statewide health information exchange that is not tethered to specific healthcare providers.”

Surescripts Joins Carequality to Further Interoperability and Health Data Exchange
Surescripts, the nation’s largest clinical health information network, has joined Carequality as a founding member. Carequality launched at HIMSS14 as a new industry-led initiative dedicated to accelerating progress in health data exchange among multi-platform networks, healthcare providers, electronic health record (EHR) and health information exchange (HIE) vendors.
