$1.5 Million from Massachusetts eHealth Institute
The Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative is soliciting proposals for the $1.5 million Mass HIway Vendor Interface Grant Program to fund projects that advance the interoperability of electronic health records in the Commonwealth. The competitive grant program is designed to accelerate the connection of electronic health records to Massachusetts’ health information exchange, the MassHIway, making it easier for providers to exchange information using the HIway. The Mass HIway is the Commonwealth’s secure statewide health information exchange which enables the exchange of health infromation between doctors’ offices, hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies, skilled nursing facilities and health plans.
This HIE grant is a competitive grant solicitation providing funds to support Electronic Health Record (EHR), Clinical Information System (CIS) and other care management system vendors who are either developing Direct Project-compliant interface that will use the services of the Massachusetts state-wide HIE, the Mass HIway, or implementing an existing interface at customers in the Commonwealth.
Successful applicants may receive award amounts up to $150,000, and the average amount is expected to be approximately $75,000. The timeline for the grant will be:
- May 23, 2013 – Solicitation posted
- June 17, 2013 – Applications due
- June 28, 2013 – Notification of awards (estimated)
- January 31, 2014 – Milestones complete; milestone-based invoices submitted
- January 31, 2014 – All remaining efforts invoiced and grant closed
$1 Million from UC Davis Institute for Population Health Improvement
The California Health eQuality (CHeQ) program, managed by the UC Davis Institute for Population Health Improvement (IPHI), has launched a new $1 million Rural Health Information Exchange Incentive Program. The Incentive Program money subsidizes rural providers to chose from five designated HIE service providers for health information exchange. The program was promoted the the 2013 California HIE Summit held earlier this month. The allocated $1 million is available through the end of this year. The five selected HIE service providers were selected using a competitive process to meet meaningful use Stage 1 and 2 objectives, emerging care delivery and payment models, as well as local needs. The Incentive Program was launched to help physicians, clinics and hospitals in rural California implement technologies that enable the secure and reliable exchange of health information to improve health-care quality, lower costs and achieve federal meaningful use criteria.
Arizona Health Information Exchange Enterprise Grant Program
The Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology Office (ASET) is offering up to $1 million in grants to accelerate health information exchange (HIE) for large health care organizations that are creating, developing, or maturing enterprise-wide health information exchange capabilities in Arizona. The HIE grants target organizational HIE’s to support acceleration of connecting providers within their own networks and are expected to be up to $200,000 per award. Grant applications are due to ASET by Friday, June 7, 2013.
