Dr. Blackford Middleton Joins Apervita on a Mission to Unleash the World’s Health Knowledge
Apervita, Inc.(@apervita) announced Blackford Middleton, immediate past chair of the board of directors of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), will join the Apervita team as Chief Informatics and Innovation Officer. Previously Chief Informatics Officer at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Middleton brings years of visionary leadership in health informatics to the Apervita team.

HIMSS Announces New Leadership in Executive Management Team
Blain Newton becomes Executive Vice President of HIMSS Analytics, as of March 1, when current EVP John Hoyt retires from the position. R. Norris Orms, HIMSS executive vice president and chief operating officer, also will retire as of July 1. HIMSS (@HIMSS) President and Chief Executive Officer H. Stephen Lieber, CAE, announced the changes, as the Society prepares for the opening of the 2016 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition from Feb. 29-March 1 in Las Vegas.

Allen Technologies Appoints Vivian Funkhouser as Director of Business Development
Allen Technologies (@allen_E3), the leader in interactive patient engagement solutions for nearly 40 years, has named healthcare industry veteran Vivian Funkhouser as director of business development. In her new role, she will lead business development strategies to support Allen’s rapid growth. Funkhouser’s background in marketing, business development and technology positions her to maximize Allen’s value to patients, healthcare providers and the healthcare industry as a whole.

MedEvolve Adds Two New Board Members
MedEvolve, Inc. (@MedEvolve), a national provider of specialty-specific practice management (PM) and electronic health record (EHR) software, and revenue cycle management (RCM) services, announced the addition of Jim Crook and Jon Phillips to the company’s Board of Directors. The two new board members have a wealth of knowledge and experience building healthcare IT companies and will help guide the company’s growth strategy.

Medfusion Announces New CEO
Medfusion (@medfusion), a provider of patient experience management (PXM) solutions, announced that Kimberly Labow has been named Chief Executive Officer. Labow is tasked with continuing to cultivate the company’s current market momentum, and deliver on Medfusion’s mission to deliver technology that enables providers to succeed in both fee-for-service and value-based environments, by putting patients in control of their health and care.

Quality Systems, Inc. Appoints Chief Financial Officer
Quality Systems, Inc. announced the appointment of James R. “Jamie” Arnold, Jr. to the post of chief financial officer, effective March 1, 2016.

Dr. Yousuf J. Ahmad Takes the Helm at AssureCare as the CEO
AssureCare, a provider of healthcare management software and solutions, announced the appointment of Dr. Yousuf Ahmad as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Ahmad brings more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record of leadership to the company.

Peak Health Solutions Names Mary S. Bessinger Vice President of Health Information Management Operations

Carolinas HealthCare System Appoints Eugene A. Woods President and Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Commissioners of Carolinas HealthCare System (@Carolinas) unanimously approved the appointment of Eugene A. Woods as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 28. Mr. Woods, 51, currently is President and Chief Operating Officer of CHRISTUS Health, based in Irving, Texas. He succeeds Michael C. Tarwater, CEO since 2002. Mr. Tarwater announced his retirement in June of 2015 and will remain with Carolinas HealthCare System until June 30, 2016, to ensure a seamless transition.

Leidos Health Names Chris Freer Vice President of National Sales
Leidos (@leidosinc), a health, national security, and engineering solutions company, announced the appointment of Chris Freer as vice president of sales for Leidos Health, effective January 19, 2016.
