Civitas 2025: Takeaways and Reflections

Bridging Data and Doing

The Civitas’ Annual Conference brings together hundreds of passionate industry leaders, decision-makers, implementers, and innovators to discuss interoperability, data-driven quality improvement, social determinants of health, public health, multi-stakeholder and community-led governance, and health outcomes. Civitas’ members serve as the bridge between “data” and “doing” in health and health care. Attendees choose the conference to foster deep connections, strengthen and build new partnerships, and leave with tangible ways to evolve their national, state, regional, and local initiatives.

This year the conference took place in September in Anaheim, California, with 211 San Diego/CIE as the premier partner, and InterSystems as the Platinum Sponsor. We rounded up some reflections on the event.

This year’s theme — “Bridging Data and Doing” — couldn’t have been more fitting. The conversations throughout the conference centered on how we move beyond collecting data to actually applying it in meaningful ways that improves care and strengthens communities. Continue reading…

Key Takeaways from Civitas 2025
By Danielle Carter, CEO, Intrepid Ascent

Just getting back from an energizing and full few days at Civitas 2025! It was great to be among like-minded colleagues who are committed to building connected systems that drive enhanced care delivery across healthcare and social care.

The central truth is this: the data exchange ecosystem is at a critical inflection point.

Amid unprecedented pressures from budget cuts to regulatory shifts our approach to data exchange is no longer a technical choice, but a moral and operational imperative. The integrity, speed, and quality of our data systems will either worsen the problem or forge the path to resilience and better health outcomes. Continue reading…
