AAFP

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) works to solidify family medicine as the cornerstone of a functioning health care system. They lobby government, negotiate with payers, partner with employers, educate patients, and champion family medicine on the national stage. Block Grant Plan Would Hurt Medicaid Patients, AAFP Warns
A proposed Medicaid policy announced Jan. 30 by CMS drew a swift, sharp response from the Academy, which recognized the change as one that would restrict rather than expand health care options for Americans.

AAPC

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. AHA Names Vice President of Trustee Engagement and Strategy
Sue Ellen Wagner recently joined the AHA as vice president of trustee engagement and strategy, where she oversees the development of trustee education, tools and resources as part of AHA’s Field Engagement team. Wagner comes to AHA after more than 25 years with the Healthcare Association of New York State.

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is a professional association for health professionals involved in the health information management needed to deliver quality health care to the public. New Study: Majority of Americans Value Privacy and Affordability over Transparency
Patients and consumers deserve better access to personalized, actionable health care information to empower them to make better, more informed decisions – but it should not drive up health care costs or compromise the privacy of their personal health data. That’s according to a new nationwide poll of patients and consumers from Morning Consult, conducted on behalf of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).

AMA offers 6 tips to improve heart health during American Heart Month

AMIA

The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) AMIA is a community committed to the vision of a world where informatics transforms people’s care. Over the last 35 years, the use of informatics has grown exponentially to improve health and to make better healthcare decisions. Today, informatics is the key to accelerating the current goals of healthcare reform. AMIA: NIH Misses Mark on Data Sharing Proposals
The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) warned the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that its proposed data management and sharing policy would be detrimental to data-driven discovery and lead to increased compliance burdens for researchers.

The American Telemedicine Association (ATA), established in 1993, is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote access to medical care for consumers and health professionals via telecommunications technology. The Healthcare Business Management Association (HBMA), a non-profit professional trade association, is a major voice in the revenue cycle management industry in the United States. Find the Latest Numbers Shaping Healthcare Finance
Safety-net hospitals receive reprieve  from DSH cuts, but only until May. The start of a $ 4 billion cut to Medicare payments for hospitals serving high numbers of low-income patients was delayed to May 23, 2020, as part of an omnibus federal funding package enacted near the end of 2019.

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is an American not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care in quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and access through the best use of information technology and management systems. Final Results of SHIEC HIE Survey Presented at ONC Annual Meeting
The final results of the SHIEC HIE Survey were presented at the ONC Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on January 28, 2020 by David Kendrick, MD, MPH. Dr. Kendrick is the founder and CEO of MyHealth Access (Tulsa, OK) and is on the Board of Directors of SHIEC. Dr. Kendrick and his team at the University of Oklahoma compiled the results of the survey.
