llistsWho doesn’t like a good list? Whether you are on it, know someone on it, or aspire to be on it, you always want to read the list. Here are some interesting lists I think deserve sharing.

Each organization on this list has a strong foundation of high-quality care, stellar credentials and a focus on doing what is right for the patients in its community. They are home to many medical and scientific breakthroughs, provide best-in-class patient care and are stalwarts of their communities, serving as research hubs or local anchors of wellness. To develop this list, the Becker’s Hospital Review (@BeckersHR) editorial team conducted research and examined several reputable hospital ranking sources, such as U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, Truven Health Analytics, The Leapfrog Group and Magnet designation from the AmericanNursesCredentialingCenter. In examining each hospital, the editorial team considered questions such as “Would you take a loved one here for care? Would this hospital be on a short list of places to visit for an important procedure or health issue?”

This AHRQ Statistical Brief presents data from the Household Component of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS-HC) regarding medical expenditures associated with the five most costly conditions for children ages 0–17 in 2012. The five most costly conditions among children (mental disorders, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, trauma-related disorders, acute bronchitis and upper respiratory infections, and infectious diseases) were determined by totaling and ranking the expenses by condition for all medical care provided in 2012.
