The AMA published an update to the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set that includes new code additions and editorial revisions for reporting medical services sparked by the public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first major overhaul in more than 25 years to the codes and guidelines for office and other outpatient evaluation and management services was included in the release of the 2021 Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set published by the American Medical Association.
The AMA announced that the CPT Editorial Panel approved a new addition to the CPT® code set that will help streamline data-driven resource and allocation planning in the battle against the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the United States.
