Cigna Completes Combination with Express Scripts, Establishing a Blueprint to Transform the Health Care System
Cigna Corporation (@cigna), a global health service company, has successfully completed its combination with Express Scripts Holding Company (“Express Scripts”) effective December 20, 2018. Consistent with its commitment to support local communities and improve societal health, Cigna also announced an incremental investment of $200 million to its charitable foundation and communities and is launching Healthier Kids for Our Future , a community engagement program focused on addressing the well-being of children globally.

Humana Names William Shrank, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Humana Inc. (@humana), one of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies, announced the appointment of William Shrank, MD, MSHS, as Humana’s new Chief Medical Officer, effective April 1. Anthem Blue Cross Collaborates with CVS Pharmacy to Increase Access to Health Products
Anthem Blue Cross (Anthem) announced that, beginning January 2019, consumers enrolled in its Medicare Advantage health plans will be able to purchase over-the-counter (OTC) medications and health-related products at CVS Pharmacy stores using their health plan’s allowance. The addition of CVS Pharmacy to Anthem’s network of OTC retailers is part of the company’s continued commitment of making healthcare simpler for consumers and improving their health and well-being.

Medica Awards $70,000 in Grants to Nebraska Health Care Organizations
Medica (@Medica4Me) announced grants totaling $70,000 to two Omaha, Neb., health care organizations. The Magis Clinic at Creighton University’s School of Medicine in Omaha will receive $20,000 to expand its prescription drug program and its immunization program for people experiencing homelessness. Visiting Nurse Association will receive $50,000 to expand and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its telehealth services in the Omaha Metro area and surrounding communities.
