NeHC Panel Discussion to Address Interoperability Challenges in HIE

The eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) is partnering with the ONC and its Beacon Communities in a live webcast highlighting the last two years of innovation and success in advancing health information technology adoption and use. The Power of Collaboration: Beacon Communities and EHR Vendors Working Together to Accelerate Interoperability and Exchange will feature Beacon Community representatives, EHR vendors and other industry leaders. They will join Deputy National Coordinator for Programs & Policy Judy Murphy and NeHC CEO Kate Berry for a panel discussion on innovative approaches to address challenges in using information from disparate EHR systems. Seven EHR companies, NextGen Healthcare, Greenway, GE, Allscripts, Vitera, Cerner and SuccessEHS along with the Beacon Communities have agreed on the highest priority elements of patient information necessary for a consistent clinical summary document that can be automatically exported to an HIE.

About the Beacon Communities
The Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program is part of a larger health care improvement revolution that demonstrates how health IT investments and Meaningful Use of electronic health records (EHR) advance the vision of patient-centered care, while achieving the three-part aim of better health, better care at lower cost. The HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) is providing $250 million over three years to 17 selected communities throughout the United States that have already made inroads in the development of secure, private, and accurate systems of EHR adoption and health information exchange.
