ONC adds two new ATCBs

Friday, ONC announced the addition of two additional Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies to their previous list of three. Both have been authorized to certify complete EHR systems and EHR modules. The additions round out what looks like regional areas. The two new organizations are in PA and CO. The three previous are in IL, TX, and CA. I am not sure this will matter much in vendor selection of who they will use to certify their systems though. Location doesn’t seem like a significant criteria.

ICSA Labs – Mechanicsburg PA

ICSA Labs is an independent division of Verizon Business, a unit of Verizon Communications which offers vendor-neutral testing and certification of security products and solutions for hundreds of the world’s top security vendors. No stranger to the medical industry, they certify MDex, the medical data exchange for dictated medical information. Together with the Medical Transcription Industry Association (MTIA) they have created the MTSC (Medical Transcription Service Consortium) to promote this secure exchange. Their web site has not posted any specific information or press releases on their selection as of this posting.

SLI Global Solutions – Denver CO

Based in Denver with global offices, SLI offers technology risk and investment management. No stranger to government certification, they conduct electronic voting systems compliance testing. Under the auspices of the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in partnership with the United States Election Assistance Commission (EAC), SLI is an accredited Voting System Test Laboratory (VSTL). Their web site has not posted any specific information or press releases on their selection as of this posting..
