Meaningful Use Attestation to begin on April 18

Attesting to Meaningful Use Starts

Meaningful use attestation for the EHR Incentive program will begin on April 18th. CMS has released preliminary screenshots of the web-based attestation process for the EHR Incentive program. Releases of a user guide and step-by-step instructions are expected soon. Eligible professionals and eligible hospitals must register, implement certified technology, demonstrate meaningful use for 90 consecutive days, and then attest to completing the requirements.

Preview the CMS document that will give you a sneak peak and idea on how the attestation system will work and what it will look like. If you are an EP you will need your active NPI and a NPPES web user account to log into the system. If you are an Eligible hospital you will need an active NPI. Users working on behalf of the hospital must have an I&A web user account to log in.

Be prepared for attestation and make sure you understand the required objectives to demonstrate meaningful use. EPs must report on 20 objectives and 6 clinical measures. Eligible hospitals and Critical Access hospitals must report on 19 objectives and 15 quality measures.
