HIMSS 13 Offers ‘Meaningful Use’ Experience, Interoperability Showcase

HIMSS 13 Conference

HIMSS Conference – Health IT at the Right Time, Right Place

We are just seven weeks away to the start of the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans, March 3 – 7 and we can almost smell the beignets. A quick review of the conference website shows a number of features and events have been added since our last post.

First and foremost, brand new this year is the HIMSS “Meaningful Use Experience” demonstration area. Some of the industry’s leading EHR vendors will offer conference goers the chance to experience interactive demonstrations on both complete and module EHR systems. Interoperability Showcase and more

Interoperability is the word, is the word that you heard, it’s got groove it’s got meaning. No offence to Frankie Vallie, his lyrics just seem to sum up Interoperability at HIMSS this year. Back again is the Interoperability Showcase  where health IT companies will demonstrate standards-based interoperability across multiple points of care with conference goers as patients. HIMSS is also providing educational sessions including:

Health Information Exchange: Reality and Future will prime attendees to develop a roadmap for health information exchange (HIE) success. Attendees will learn how to identify the business and technical needs for HIE in support of meaningful use and the enablement of care coordination; compare the inherent strengths and challenges of the various enterprise EMR, HIE and specialty vendors, and payers; recognize how HIEs will increasingly be used to support repositories, registries, data warehouses and business intelligence/analytics.
