Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts Launches HIT Adoption Initiative
October marks the beginning of the Home Care Alliance (HCA) (@thinkhomecare) of Massachusetts’ Health Information Technology (HIT) adoption project. With funding support from MeHI, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute (@MassEHealth) at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, The Alliance has partnered with the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC) (@MAeHC_org) to assist home health agencies across the state meet the increasing demands for electronic data exchange.

Veterans Health Administration and Indian Health Service Become First Federal Agencies to Gain Interoperability via DirectExchange, Receive Accreditation From EHNAC-DirectTrust for HISPs’ Security and Identity Controls
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Indian Health Service’s (IHS) recent accreditation by the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) (@EHNAC) and DirectTrust (@DirectTrustorg) is a major boost to improve health care coordination for millions of veterans and Native Americans, according to DirectTrust President and CEO David C. Kibbe, MD, MBA. DirectTrust is a health care industry alliance created by and for participants in the Direct exchange network used for secure, interoperable exchange of personal health information. Georgia Completes Connection With Alabama to Support State-to-State Exchange of Health Information
Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN), Georgia’s statewide health information exchange (HIE), and Alabama’s One Health Record® announced the success of an electronic connection between the two networks. This is the second state-to-state health information exchange (HIE) connection for GaHIN, which connected with the South Carolina HIE in 2014, and is one of only a few interstate connections in the nation.

Edifecs Continues Work to Solve Healthcare IT Interoperability Challenges
Edifecs (@edifecs), a global health information technology solutions company, announced the company’s successful participation at HL7’s Structured Data Capture FHIR Connectathon August 12th and in the payer Connectathon at the HL7 Plenary and Workgroup meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, October 3 and 4. Edifecs participated in the August event focused on Structured Data Capture (SDC) and successfully demonstrated patient access to eligibility inquiries via a mobile device. Edifecs delivers interoperability to reduce the administrative costs of healthcare while improving patient engagement and timeliness of data.

Mobile Heartbeat Partners with CDW to Deliver Mobile Solutions Improving Health Communications
Mobile Heartbeat (@mobileheartbeat), a leading provider of smartphone applications for improving clinical workflow and team communications, announced a partnership with CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions to business, government, education and healthcare. CDW will be instrumental in providing the Mobile Heartbeat Clinical Urgent Response (MH-CURE) smartphone application to a broader range of facilities in the healthcare market.

Three Health Information Organizations Sign Agreements to Join PA Patient & Provider Network (P3N)
At its October 9 Board of Directors meeting in Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority (@PAeHealthannounced that three of the state’s health information organizations (HIO)—ClinicalConnect HIE (CCHIE), HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX), and Keystone Health Information Exchange (KeyHIE)—have signed agreements to join the Authority’s Pennsylvania Patient & Provider Network, or P3N.

NATE Transferring Provider Trust Bundle to CAHIE
The California Association of Health Information Exchanges (CAHIE) (@info_cahie) and the National Association for Trusted Exchange (NATE) are pleased to announce their collaboration to more effectively enable health information among providers and between providers and consumers. As part of the collaboration, NATE will transition administration of NATE’s Provider-to-Provider Trust Bundle to CAHIE. NATE established the Provider-to-Provider Trust Bundle in November 2012 as the first national framework dedicated to facilitating Direct messaging among providers. It currently enables exchange among organizations in California, Oregon, Utah, and Alaska. CAHIE will assume operation of the Provider-to-Provider Trust Bundle beginning October 9, 2015, and will complete the transition over the next few months.
