No surprise with HIMSS14 less than three weeks away that press releases are flying fast and furious. Here’s a sampling of news and announcements from exhibitors and participants.

ECRI Institute, a nonprofit that researches the best approaches to improve patient care, along with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), announces a health IT focused pre-conference session at the 2014 Annual Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, FL. This pre-conference workshop, “Patient Safety – Making Healthcare Safer: Health IT Challenges and Solutions,” will highlight what leading health systems are doing to identify and prevent IT-related errors, and begins on Sunday, February 23, 2014, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM EST.

InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected healthcare, and the Intelligent Hospital, a subsidiary of the RFID in Healthcare Consortium, announced that InterSystems HealthShare® will be the official health informatics platform for the Intelligent Hospital™ Pavilion at HIMSS 2014 in Orlando, Florida, Feb. 23-26, 2014. One of the most popular attractions at HIMSS, with over 7,000 visitors last year, the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion will provide exciting demonstrations and use cases of health information technology from multiple collaborating vendors.
