Growing Influence of Social Media on Health IT

Twitter Chat to Focus on HIT Social Media

Keith Boone is the Standards expert for GE and author of the popular blog Motorcycle Guy. He has been a guest of ours on MU Live!, most recently joining us to discuss proposed Standards and Interoperability in Stage 2. On this show he predicted there will be a Stage 4 Meaningful Use. You can download a podcast of this show.

We also follow Keith on Twitter @motorcycle_guy where he tweets regularly on Health IT, government policies, HIE and more.  On his most recent blog post he writes “One of the things that I’ve noted over the past 4 years of blogging is the increased influence of social media on Health IT regulation and standards.” Keith will be hosting a Twitter dialog to discuss this influence on Friday at 12 noon Eastern/11 am Central on Twitter, hashtag #HITsm.

During this live Twitter chat he’ll be asking these four questions:

  • What #HITsm activities (blog posts, tweets) have been most influential in how you view #HealthIT regulations or standards?
  • Where do you go these days to get your news first?
  • How has government involvement in #HITsm changed your outlook about #HealthIT regulation and implementation?
  • What got you involved in #HITsm and how is it different from other media forms?
If you’ve never actively engaged in a Twitter chat the process is simple. The hashtag or # symbol, in this case #HITsm, is your ticket in to joining Twitter chat events. By including #HITsm  in your tweet your message will be added to the #HITsm stream. To add yourself to the stream you’ll need to include #HITsm somewhere in your tweet. It’s most common to find the hastag added to the end of the tweet.
