U.S. Medical Equipment Consultants, Inc. engaged with VMware’s Pivotal Labs to create, test and deploy a solution that enables healthcare organizations to quickly locate and manage critical medical equipment used to care for patients with Covid-19. In addition to providing equipment location data, the solution allows users to determine equipment’s availability for use with patients, request equipment repair service and perform other vital equipment management duties using a smartphone or tablet.

TOP Data (@TOPAgencyGlobal) analyzed mobility data to determine the number of daily close human interactions that last longer than 5 minutes and the impact on COVID cases. They organized the data collected into a new, interactive county-level social distancing map.

Maxim Biomedical Inc. Rapid Antigen COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) Test to Deliver Results in Less Than 15 Minutes While Reducing Risk of Exposure to Healthcare Workers
Maxim Biomedical (Maxim), a company dedicated to the development of high quality, in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) and Point-of-Care (POC) testing solutions, announced plans to produce and market as many as 3 million Maxim SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Tests (patent pending) by the end of the year. The test was developed in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADxSM) initiative.

Tanjo AI LLC (@TanjoHQ), a machine learning company, will be powering North Carolina’s COVID-19 reopening through its artificial intelligence technology platform.

Baylor Scott & White Health Launches Digital At-Home Monitoring for Children Diagnosed with COVID-19
Baylor Scott & White Health (@bswhealth) has launched expanded digital care options via the MyBSWHealth app and online portal to provide support for children who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Digital at-home monitoring has been available for adults ages 18 and older since May.

COVID-19 Cases in Children Reach a Grim Milestone, Surpassing a Half-million: American Academy of Pediatrics
More than 513,000 U.S. children have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the American Academy of Pediatrics (@AmerAcadPeds) and Children’s Hospital Association began tracking cases in the spring, according to the latest weekly report that compiles state-by-state data.

Inaugural Edition: Weekly COVID-19 Lab Testing Insights from hc1
The CV19 Lab Testing Dashboard powered by hc1 (@hc1dotcom) provides local lab testing insights that include state, county, and sub-county views of Local Risk Index, COVID-19 testing rates and results, and key demographic filters for those tested (age, gender). Data used in the dashboard comes from more than 20,000 lab ordering locations from a coalition of laboratories performing up to 40 percent of the nation’s laboratory testing.

CVS Health makes COVID-19 testing available for children 12 years and older at its more than 2,000 drive-thru test sites
As part of its comprehensive effort to increase access to COVID-19 testing in order to help slow the spread of the virus, CVS Health (@cvshealth) announced that children age 12 years and older are eligible for testing at the more than 2,000 test sites located at select CVS Pharmacy drive-thru testing locations, starting Friday, September 11. In addition, more than 120 new test sites will open Friday at CVS Pharmacy drive-thru locations across the country.

Statement on AstraZeneca Oxford SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, AZD1222, COVID-19 vaccine trials temporary pause
AstraZeneca (@AstraZeneca) reports that as part of the ongoing randomised, controlled clinical trials of the AstraZeneca Oxford coronavirus vaccine, AZD1222, a standard review process has been triggered, leading to the voluntary pause of vaccination across all trials to allow an independent committee to review the safety data of a single event of an unexplained illness that occurred in the UK Phase III trial.

Comparison of Clinical Features of COVID-19 vs Seasonal Influenza A and B in US Children – by JAMA Network Open (@jamanetworkopen) – In a cohort study of 315 children with COVID-19 and 1402 children with seasonal influenza, there were no statistically significant differences in the rates of hospitalization, admission to the intensive care unit, and mechanical ventilator use between the 2 groups. More patients with COVID-19 than with seasonal influenza reported fever, diarrhea or vomiting, headache, body ache, or chest pain at the time of diagnosis.
