CMS NPRM – Incentive Programs for Eligible Professionals

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on December 30, 2009, outlining both the objectives and measures defining meaningful use for EHR adoption and the incentive programs attached to this adoption.

Eligible Professionals and Eligible Hospitals will qualify for one of the three incentive programs proposed in the rules – Medicare Fee-for-Service, Medicare Advantage Organization Incentives and Medicaid – and must elect to receive payments from one of these three programs.

HITECH Answers 4th webinar in its ongoing series on the Proposed Rules digests CMS’ incentive programs for eligible professionals.  Presented by Bill Oravecz, the webinar looks at the details of the three programs and provides key analysis on specific provisions of each program, computations and payouts, and qualifications. Next week’s addition to this series looks at the incentive programs available to eligible hospitals.

This series in its entirety will distill the 556-page CMS NPRM document and the 156-page ONC IFR document down to 30-40 minute webinars, providing independent analysis and education on the Proposed Rules to subscribers.  Additional downloads and research documents accompany this series.
