ONC HIT Certification Bodies for Stage 2ONC HIT Certification Program For Stage 2 EHR Technology

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) announced last week that ONC-Authorized Certification Bodies (ACBs) in the ONC HIT Certification Program are now authorized to test and certify EHR products in accordance with the 2014 Edition Standards and Certification Criteria, as outlined in the Health Information Technology: Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification Criteria for Electronic Health Record Technology, 2014 Edition; Revisions to the Permanent Certification Program for Health Information Technology Final Rule that was published last September.

In the final rule the certification program was renamed to the ONC HIT Certification Program. In this current program certification and testing activities are performed by separate entities. Products are certified by ONC-Authorized Certification Bodies (ONC-ACBs) and product testing is performed by Accredited Testing Laboratories (ATLs).
