Behavioral Health Organizations Meeting Meaningful Use

Behavioral Health Providers Eligibility for EHR Incentives

The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare advocates policies for ensuring that people who are ill can get access to comprehensive healthcare. Serving almost 2,000 members the organization’s mission is to support the more than 8 million adults and children suffering from mental illness and addiction disorders.

Under the HITECH Act, behavioral health facilities are not currently eligible for CMS EHR incentives. However,  certain providers working in behavioral health including psychiatrists, other physicians, and nurse practitioners are eligible for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program providing they meet specified meaningful use requirements. The National Council is looking to educate behavioral health providers who may qualify for incentives and is hosting a webinar tomorrow at 12 noon Eastern.
