Alaska Health Information Exchange

AlaskaHNThe Alaska eHealth Network (AeHN) is a non-profit organization operating a secure statewide electronic health information exchange that allows individual Alaskans to access and share their health records with their health care providers to exchange electronic medical data for treatment and billing. In 2010, The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) contracted with the Alaska eHealth Network to operate the state’s secure health information exchange.

Currently, the AeHN has over 12 hospitals and 900 providers participating. They also report over 4,000 connected users and that 200,000 messages have been sent securely over the exchange since its inception.

The AeHN is hosting a free event featuring renowned “e-Patient” Dave deBronkart, visiting professor at the Mayo Clinic, who will speak on Patient-Provider Engagement. This event will take place on September 18th. The annual AeHN is also hosting an Annual Stakeholder Meeting, scheduled for November 4, 2015.

AeHN Mission
The AeHN’s mission is to improve the safety, cost effectiveness and quality of healthcare in the Land of the Midnight Sun through the implementation of secure medical record electronic data transfer. Their vision is that of a connected Alaska Healthcare System.
