About the Event:
The healthcare industry is balancing the need to provide quality care while reducing costs and managing population health. The 89th AHIMA Convention and Exhibit, October 7‒11, 2017, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, in Los Angeles, CA, will explore the many ways health information professionals must inspire, innovate and lead their organizations into the future of health data analytics, informatics, and information governance.

Make the most of your time at the convention by using the AHIMA Convention Meeting Planner. The Planner offers you a simple way to search the meetings and events being offered, and create your own personal schedule. All of the information you need to know about the convention is at your fingertips including the Meeting Calendar, Program Calendar, Speakers, Tracks and Sponsors. AHIMA Pre- Convention
In addition to the main Convention, AHIMA also offers meetings and workshops to enhance your experience during the Pre-Convention Programs. The Pre-Convention Programs run from Thursday – Sunday October 6-8, 2017 and while most will cost you a little bit more out of pocket, there are a few freebies as well.

Special Guest Speakers
Several great speakers will be in attendance at the Convention during the General Sessions. Prepare to be inspired by award-winning actress, Viola Davis or hear a 2017 government update from National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Don Rucker, MD. On Monday, October 9th be sure to attend a Point/Counterpoint Session on Healthcare featuring Newt Gingrich, former U.S. Speaker of the House and Fox News Contributor and Barbara Boxer, former U.S. Senator.

Program Highlights
There is so much to learn at the AHIMA Conference but the following are two of the top offerings you will find there. This year marks the Privacy and Security Institute’s 11th anniversary with exciting new changes and a lineup of speakers you cannot miss! Things to do
This year the convention will be held in good old, sunny Los Angeles, California. While there is a great deal being offered each day at the convention, you may want to consider skipping out early one day or book-ending your stay with a few extra days so you can try to squeeze in some fun while you’re there.
