The significance of the date marks Dr. Crawford Long’s adminstration of the first ether anesthetic for sugery in 1842.The red carnation became the symbol for National Doctors’ Day signifying the qualities of sacrifice, charity, courage, bravery, and love.

Happy Doctors’ Day to all my doctor readers, especially my dad.
