West Tennessee Healthcare Adopts Secure Health Information Sharing Technology
West Tennessee Healthcare (WTH) is the first comprehensive healthcare system in Tennessee to participate in the Health eShare Direct Project that integrated Direct secure messaging technology within its electronic health record (EHR).The Health eShare Direct Project is a new initiative that helps healthcare providers safely and securely share electronic health information.  Read press release.

Royal Solutions Group LLC, a provider of HIE-as-a-Service solutions to the Healthcare industry, recently deployed RoyalMD™, a secure, single-pain-of-glass portal that tracks patient history and progress through the office visit life cycle.  Accessible from any web browser and mobile device, RoyalMD™ meets Meaningful Use Stage 2 and has built-in CPOE, real-time consultations, clinical decision support and breaking glass technologies.  Physicians can easily track patient exam status, place orders and communicate within their clinical community.  Annotated key images and web-enabled DICOM viewers allow providers from all over the country to view, comment and study their patient’s radiology exam.  Read press release.

DataMotion Achieves DirectTrust.org/EHNAC Accreditation
DataMotion (www.datamotion.com), an innovative health information service provider (HISP) with more than 14 years of experience in email encryption, announced it has achieved full accreditation by the Direct Trusted Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP) for HISPs from DirectTrust.org and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). Direct Trusted Agent accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions, and ensures compliance with industry-established standards, HIPAA regulations and the Direct Project.  Read press release.

Massachusetts’ Governor Patrick Launches Next Phase of Mass HIway
Governor Deval Patrick launched the next phase of the Mass HIway Health Information Exchange, joining health care leaders at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) to demonstrate the innovative new tools that will allow providers for the first time to locate, request and retrieve medical records from other participating healthcare providers across the Commonwealth on a secure, interconnected system with a click of a button.  Read press release.

Rush to Create Information Hub to Better Integrate Hospitals, Physicians
Crain’s Chicago Business paper is reporting on Rush Health and its private health information exchange.  With nearly 1,000 physicians and three hospitals using a variety of different electronic health records, Rush Health is creating a hub to better integrate the network as the health care industry is being encouraged to deliver better but less expensive patient care.  Read the complete article.

EHNAC Releases Updated and Final 2014 Criteria for All Accreditation Programs
The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body, announced the adoption of new program criteria, which includes various enhancements and clarifications including further support of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Omnibus Rule. All of these accreditation programs support the latest healthcare reform legislative mandates for industry stakeholders.  Read press release.

New Grant Funding to Enable Improvements for Behavioral Health and HIE in Colorado
CORHIO is receiving a grant from Rose Community Foundation to support improved exchange of behavioral and mental health information among health care providers in Colorado. This is the second grant CORHIO has received from Rose Community Foundation and will continue the partnership to improve care coordination for Coloradans being treated by behavioral health care providers. These patients in particular can benefit from health information exchange because they often see multiple providers for several conditions and a lack of transparency with their records can cause detrimental gaps in care.  Read complete article.
