WEDI Issues ICD-10 Readiness Survey

WEDI ICD-10 Readiness SurveyThe Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) is a non-profit organization established in 1991 by Health and Human Services (HHS). WEDI’s mission is to improve the use of health information technology and reduce healthcare system costs. WEDI is conducting an ICD-10 readiness survey to determine how well the healthcare industry is progressing towards the Oct. 1, 2015 implementation deadline.

The survey is especially timely given the House subcommittee hearing last Wednesday where lawmakers generally agreed that the implementation of ICD-10 code sets should not be delayed beyond the Oct. 1 deadline.

You can complete the survey here.

The survey results will be evaluated and compiled into a report for the industry, which is expected to be released by WEDI in mid-March. Providers, health plans, vendors and clearinghouses are invited to participate in this initiative as the agency monitors progress towards the implementation deadline. The survey is anonymous.

Some of the key questions from the survey include:

  • What is the expected completion date of your ICD-10 impact assessment?
  • When do you expect to complete business changes (documentation, superbill changes, workflow redesign) for ICD-10 implementation?
  • Do you intend to conduct external testing?
  • Have you done Medicare Testing?
  • What are your top three obstacles that have caused delay and/or lack of progress in ICD-10 planning and implementation?

WEDI will continue to conduct additional surveys throughout 2015. The information collected from these surveys will help determine where additional outreach and education may be needed.

The submission deadline for this particular survey is March 6, 2015.
