This Month: Understanding the Final 2021 Quality Payment Rule
CMS recently released the final rule for the 2021 Medicare Quality Payment Program (QPP). While CMS acknowledges and has provided guidance as it relates to the ongoing Public Health Emergency (PHE) caused by COVID-19, there are still meaningful changes to the various components of the QPP that will take effect on January 1, 2021. Notably, the MIPS score required to avoid a negative payment adjustment rises significantly, and the new APM Performance Pathways (APP) model will kick off in 2021.
