On this episode I talked to Jeremy Elias, Founder and Chief Executive Officer – TrackMy Solutions, a company taking on the challenge of keeping track of all the devices and technology that is in use in healthcare but like all other technology solutions sometimes requires updates or changes to fix newly discovered problems. Jeremy’s journey to this point is important as he describes the mix of both professional and personal interest in driving this innovation and he says he likes to use this picture of his family.

As a constant reminder as to what I am working towards and for – a brighter future, and safer one for the next generations! (I am an advisor to the company).

We discuss the background to the company, the story of a failed pacemaker battery that was subject to a recall in a patient who did not know until it was too late and the realization that there were no tools or solutions to help remediate this problem. As he points out, patients sometimes know they have a Zimmer knee and a Johnson and Johnson stent but not much beyond that. Expect this trend of cybernetic implants to increase as we all age and technology and innovation find new improved solutions to help replace these parts.

There has been a lot of focus on this area recently with the Netflix original movie “The Bleeding Edge” (trailer) taking a deep dive into the space and some of the challenges of tracking and staying up to date with the latest developments and updates in devices and implants.

Listen in to hear how they have focused on the hospitals and clinicians who all want to deliver the best possible care but oftentimes struggle to keep track of their patients and how their solution can enable patients to personally keep track for themselves.
