OpenLoop Raises $8M Series A to Expand Full Stack, Whitelabel Telehealth Services
OpenLoop (@openloophealth), a health tech company delivering full stack clinical support to companies launching and scaling virtual care services across the nation, announced their Series A financing of $8 million. The latest capital brings OpenLoop’s total raised to approximately $11 million.

LG Electronics and Amwell Partner on Digital Health Innovations
Global innovator LG Electronics and telehealth leader Amwell (@amwell) have joined forces to expand the boundaries of virtual care. By combining LG’s broad innovation portfolio with Amwell’s deep digital health care experience, the two companies plan to jointly develop new device-based service solutions designed to make it easier for patients to access care, whether in a hospital or at home.

Teladoc Health and Amazon Team Up to Launch Teladoc on Alexa
Teladoc Health (@teladochealth), a global company in whole-person virtual care, announced a first of its kind experience with Amazon Alexa with the launch of voice-activated general medical virtual care on supported Echo devices, such as an Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show. Customers in the U.S. will now be able to connect with a Teladoc care provider 24/7 from supported Echo devices for general medical needs. Teladoc on Alexa will initially launch via audio with video visits coming soon.

Brazilian Health Tech Company Alice Partners with TytoCare to Expand Telehealth Offerings with At-Home Medical Examinations
TytoCare (@TytoCare), the global health care industry’s first all-in-one modular device and examination platform for AI-powered, on-demand, remote medical exams, and Alice, Brazil’s first primary care-driven health insurance plan, have announced a partnership. Alice is the first company in Brazil to integrate with TytoCare, offering its members an easy-to-use, portable examination kit to conduct virtual physical examinations anywhere, anytime, putting healthcare in the hands of consumers. TytoCare will be distributed exclusively in Brazil by Tuinda Care.

FCC Sets July 31, 2022 Purchase Deadline for C-19 Telehealth Program
By this Public Notice, the Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) sets July 31, 2022, as the deadline for Round 2 COVID-19 Telehealth Program (COVID-19 Program) funding recipients to purchase eligible devices and implement eligible services. A purchase and implementation deadline is necessary for efficient Program administration, as it ensures that Program funds are used in a timely fashion, and it will allow for a subsequent invoicing deadline, which will be announced at a later date.

Defining the Industry According to the AAFP:

Telemedicine is the practice of medicine using technology to deliver care at a distance. It occurs using a telecommunications infrastructure between a patient (at an originating or spoke site) and a physician or other practitioner licensed to practice medicine (at a distant or hub site).

Virtual Care is a patient service model for healthcare providers.

Telehealth refers to a broad collection of electronic and telecommunications technologies that support health care delivery and services from distant locations. Telehealth technologies support virtual medical, health, and education services.
