State Health Information Exchanges (HIE) come in all shapes and sizes but have one thing in common: To improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care delivered in their states. California – Manifest Medex

Manifest MedEx is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health information exchanges (HIEs), combining 11.7 million claims records from Blue Shield of California and Anthem Blue Cross and 5 million clinical patient records from 150 participating partners. Manifest MedEx supports physicians, nurses, hospitals and health plans in sharing critical health information to ensure that patients receive the safest, highest-quality care possible. The California Integrated Data Exchange and Inland Empire Health Information Exchange merged to create Manifest Medex.

Manifest MedEx Releases Report Indicating Californians Fell as Much as 50% Behind on Medical Care, Especially Preventive Screenings and Children’s Health, During the 2020 Pandemic – Manifest MedEx released a report titled “Pandemic Aftershocks: Examining the Decline in Healthcare Utilization in California during COVID-19.” The report is an analysis of the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare utilization in our state. It equips California healthcare providers and leaders with important insights to address gaps in care and plan for future public health events.

healtheConnect Alaska

healtheConnect Alaska (@akehealth) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, organized and managed by Alaskans and tasked by the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services, to provide safe, secure transport for health information in order to improve quality and safety of patient care and increase efficiencies for hospitals and medical practices. healtheConnect Alaska provides health information exchange and direct secure messaging services to more than 20 hospitals and 450 healthcare organizations across Alaska.

Connecticut – CTHealthLink

CTHealthLink (@CTHealthLink) is a physician-led health information network delivered in partnership with the Connecticut State Medical Society (CSMS) offering a suite of health information technology tools to help health professionals across the state of Connecticut CONNECT. ANALYZE. ENGAGE. and TRANSFORM. the healthcare industry.

Women’s Health Connecticut Joins CTHealthLink HIE: Partnership Provides Opportunities to Address Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Women’s Health – CTHealthLink announced that Women’s Health Connecticut has joined the network.

Maine – HealthInfoNet

HealthInfoNet (@hinfonet) is a Maine-based, independent nonprofit designated by the State of Maine to operate Maine’s statewide health information exchange. The HIE links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record. This record is accessible to a patient’s authorized health care providers to support treatment. HealthInfoNet provides a secure, standardized electronic system where health care providers can share important patient information, giving them the tools they need to make more informed treatment decisions, especially in an emergency.

HealthInfoNet’s HIE Solutions to the CMS e-Notification CoP Rule – To assist Maine’s healthcare organizations meet CMS’s CoP rule, HealthInfoNet offers its Intelligent e-Notifications as a standard service to participants of the Health Information Exchange (“HIE”). The HIE Intelligent e-Notification service provides real-time alerting of time-sensitive events that make it possible for clinicians to establish the right care plan at the right time.

Health Share Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX)

PA-HSX-200HealthShare Exchange (@HealthShareExch) is the greater Philadelphia region’s health information exchange for the five-county Southeastern Pennsylvania region. HSX is a unique, membership-dues-supported nonprofit formed by the Delaware Valley’s hospitals/health systems and healthcare insurers that links the electronic medical record systems of different hospital health systems, medical centers, and clinics — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — to make this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care, including medical practice offices.

HealthShare Exchange and Audacious Inquiry Extend ENShare Service beyond Member Organizations
HealthShare Exchange and Audacious Inquiry, a national health IT company, announced the extension of ENShare, a service that delivers encounter notifications to subscribing organizations within and outside of the HSX network.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)

CORHIO200CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.

CORHIO Connects Practices to Vital Immunization Data – CORHIO has a long-standing partnership with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the two organizations work together to streamline immunization reporting and data access for Colorado providers.

New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)

NY-SHINY-200The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.

RHIO (@RochesterRHIO) Names John Sheehan as Next CEO and President – Following a national search, Rochester RHIO has named John Sheehan, MBA, FACHE, as the organization’s next chief executive officer and president, effective August 1. The healthcare management veteran takes the reins from Jill Eisenstein, who announced her intention to retire from the RHIO earlier this year.

Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)

The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.

MiHIN Transition To ADVault – MiHIN is making a transition from Patient Care Document (PCD)/VIPR to ADVault for advance directive (AD). Due to this migration, your practice and processes will potentially be affected in the near future. Effective immediately, it is recommended that all AD uploading to MiHIN activities be paused.

Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)

UHIN (@UHIN_HIE) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.

We’ve Got You Covered in the Mountain West: New Link Between QHN and UHIN! – UHIN and Western Colorado’s Quality Health Network (QHN) are pleased to announce a more tightly linked connection between their health information exchanges which will improve patient outcomes, improve efficiencies, and help reduce costs in a shared coverage area throughout many parts of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming that includes more than a 100 hospitals and thousands of providers.

Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)

IHIE-200Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.

CyncHealth

CyncHealth’s mission is to bring trust and value to health information technology by creating solutions for moving health data forward. CyncHealth is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a public/private governance model that includes health care providers, payers, and the State of Nebraska. CyncHealth is the designated statewide Health Information Exchange designed to share clinical and administrative data among providers in Nebraska and neighboring states. CyncHealth’s purpose is to achieve health care transformation through community betterment collaboration while protecting the security and privacy of medical information.

CyncHealth Selects Lyniate to Support Rapid Growth and Community Collaboration – Lyniate, the most trusted connector of healthcare worldwide, announced CyncHealth, the health data utility for the Midwest, has chosen Lyniate Rhapsody to support its explosive growth. CyncHealth, which first developed its successful model for health information exchange for the state of Nebraska, has expanded its network to Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri and Kansas.

The SHIEC HIE community and other health IT, public health, and healthcare colleagues will convene at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona on August 15 – 18, 2021 for education, sharing, and networking. The theme this year is The Role of Health Information Exchange: Innovation in Public Health, Partnerships, and Pandemic Response. The 7th annual conference will be co-hosted by Arizona’s own Health Current and Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO). SHIEC is working on a hybrid conference approach this year (a combination of in-person and virtual attendance), and as the SHIEC Events Committee prepares for SHIEC21, we will continue to monitor the national and local progress in responding to the COVID pandemic and the vaccine rollout.
