State Health Information Exchanges (HIE) come in all shapes and sizes but have one thing in common: To improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care delivered in their states. Alabama One Health Record

The One Health Record® system was created as Alabama’s health information exchange (HIE) through a federal grant awarded to the state in 2009. Under the guidance of the Alabama Health Information Commission, One Health Record® has emerged as an interoperable, two-way data exchange system between providers, hospitals and others within Alabama and in other states.

Alabama One Health Record Joins the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) – The Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC), a national collaborative representing health information exchanges (HIEs), announced the Alabama One Health Record® is now a SHIEC member. Alabama One Health Record aims to provide HIE services and improve consumer access to health information, with the goals of encouraging patient participation in health care decisions and improving health outcomes across the state.

Arizona – Health Current

Health Current (@AZHealthCurrent), is a partner that gives providers the information they need to make better clinical decisions and keep people healthy. The HIE believes more complete information is more meaningful. It makes healthcare transformation possible. And Health Current is central to this progress, integrating information technology and care delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Health Share Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX)

HealthShare Exchange (@HealthShareExch) is the greater Philadelphia region’s health information exchange for the five-county Southeastern Pennsylvania region. HSX is a unique, membership-dues-supported nonprofit formed by the Delaware Valley’s hospitals/health systems and healthcare insurers that links the electronic medical record systems of different hospital health systems, medical centers, and clinics — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — to make this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care, including medical practice offices.

The Consumer Health-Data-Exchange Hackathon – For the hackathon, HSX Market Street will open its APIs to the hackers as a pathway to innovation. This will make available to the hackers an invaluable resource: a vast database of (de-identified) patient data representative of the health status of millions across the Greater Philadelphia/Delaware Valley region. Hackathon participants will use this data and the APIs to create tools to increase patient access to their information, and empower consumers to improve their health and care management.

Ohio – CliniSync

OH-CliniSync-200CliniSync (@CliniSync) is a nonprofit, independent, private organization originally funded from HITECH and the ONC. The Ohio Health Information Partnership assisted providers in EHR adoption and the infrastructure for statewide HIE. It was named CliniSync, which signifies Clinical data synchronization.

CliniSync is Hiring – As CliniSync contunues to expand so does their staff. Interested in joining the Ohio Health Information Partnership team? The organization is in need of an outreach manager, integration specialist and account manager.

Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network (WISHIN)

wi-shin-twitterIn October 2010 Wisconsin officially announced its intention to designate WISHIN (@WISHIN_Pulse), a not-for-profit organization formed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, and Wisconsin Health Information Organization, as the State-designated entity to govern statewide HIE. DE on October 25, 2010. WISHIN is responsible for implementing Wisconsin’s Strategic and Operational Plan. The plan requires multi-stakeholder collaboration and emphasizes ongoing development of government and policy structures.

Georgia Health Information Network (@GeorgiaHIE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a healthier Georgia by facilitating the use and secure exchange of electronic health information so providers have the information they need at the point of care. GaHIN’s two products, GeorgiaDirect and Georgia ConnectedCare, connect providers statewide and nationally and are free for credentialed, authorized Georgia users.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)

CORHIO200CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.

Health Information Exchange Improves Cornea Donation Process in Colorado – When they receive notice that a cornea donor has passed away, the clock starts ticking for Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank. Their goal is to recover the corneas within eight hours and to have them transplanted within 72 hours. Throughout this process, there are many steps in between to ensure the donor’s corneas are eligible to be transplanted safely into another patient. To speed up and streamline this process, Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank is now using CORHIO’s PatientCare 360® to research the patient’s medical history.

Michigan – Great Lakes Health Connect (GLHC)

GLHC twitterGreat Lakes Health Connect (@GLHC_HIE) is one of the largest and most successful Health Information Exchanges in the country and is growing rapidly. GLHC is committed to creating care-connected communities across Michigan. Their vision is to enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs across the continuum of care.

Virtual Update Meeting – The purpose of the Virtual Update Meetings is to share what is new and developing at Great Lakes Health Connect. We offer two (2) half-hour webinar meetings per quarter. These Virtual Update Meetings will share timely and focused information with our strategic partners, users, and deployment and business leads across the state. The next GLHC Virtual Update Meeting is May 9, 2018.

Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)

UT-UHIN-200UHIN (@UHIN_HIE) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.

Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN)

KS-KHINKHIN (@khininfo) capitalizes on the unique strengths that local communities and regions bring to the HIE and ensure that individual regions or communities have the decision-making authority to address local or regional health-care initiatives.

Dr. Laura McCrary to Speak at MSNJ Conference – Dr. Laura McCrary, Executive Director of the Kansas Health Information Network, Inc. and the Senior Vice President of KaMMCO Health Solutions, is scheduled to speak at the Medical Society of New Jersey’s 2018 Advocacy Conference about the use of clinical data in a data-driven healthcare era.

Missouri – Missouri Health Connection (MHC)

MO-HC_twitterMissouri Health Connection (@HealthConnectMO), a non‐profit organization, is the state‐designated HIE organization that provides a secure and private electronic platform for sharing health information.

Patient Centered Data Home – MHC was recently selected as one of the four regional gateways in the national Patient Centered Data Home (PCDH) initiative established by the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative. Being named as a regional gateway is a great honor and a distinction that allows MHC to act and serve as a leader in implementing nationwide interoperability for our participating members. MHC serving in this capacity will enable data exchange across the US for all MHC Participants. This is a very exciting development and MHC is anxious to report their progress throughout the year. Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)

IHIE-200Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.
