New HIE Survey Results Show Significant Interoperable Health Data and Robust Link Between Community HIEs and Community and Social Service Organizations – According to mHealth Times, community health information exchanges (HIEs) report robust connections with community and social service organizations and are moving significant volumes of data, according to the results of the first annual survey of HIEs by the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (@SHIEClive). Results of the survey were presented by David Kendrick, MD, MPH, at the ONC Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday January 28, 2020. Dr. Kendrick is the founder and CEO of MyHealth Access (Tulsa, OK) and is on the Board of Directors of SHIEC. Dr. Kendrick and his team at the University of Oklahoma compiled the results of the survey.
healtheConnect Alaska
healtheConnect Alaska (@akehealth) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, organized and managed by Alaskans and tasked by the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services, to provide safe, secure transport for health information in order to improve quality and safety of patient care and increase efficiencies for hospitals and medical practices. healtheConnect Alaska provides health information exchange and direct secure messaging services to more than 20 hospitals and 450 healthcare organizations across Alaska.

Maine – HealthInfoNet
HealthInfoNet (@hinfonet) is a Maine-based, independent nonprofit designated by the State of Maine to operate Maine’s statewide health information exchange. The HIE links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record. This record is accessible to a patient’s authorized health care providers to support treatment. HealthInfoNet provides a secure, standardized electronic system where health care providers can share important patient information, giving them the tools they need to make more informed treatment decisions, especially in an emergency.

New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)
The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.
Expanding Image Exchange in New York State: Introducing Express Connect – eHealth Technologies, an imaging solutions provider for health information exchange (HIE), and HealtheConnections, the regional health information organization (RHIO) serving healthcare providers in 26 counties of New York state, are proud to announce a new development designed specifically for smaller practices to share and view diagnostic quality images.
Healthix and NYCIG Prepare to Merge – Healthix (@healthix) and NYCIG are pleased to announce their plan of merger in 2020. The merger of the New York City and Long Island RHIOs will result in operating efficiencies, upgraded services, a vast expansion of available data and cost effectiveness – all to better serve the hundreds of organizations, providers and patients that span both RHIOs. Currently under review by the New York State Attorney General’s office, we anticipate merger approval to take place during the first quarter of 2020.
Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN)
Georgia Health Information Network (@GeorgiaHIE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a healthier Georgia by facilitating the use and secure exchange of electronic health information so providers have the information they need at the point of care. GaHIN’s two products, GeorgiaDirect and Georgia ConnectedCare, connect providers statewide and nationally and are free for credentialed, authorized Georgia users.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)
CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.
Kids First Health Care Utilizes CORHIO for Quality Reporting, Care Coordination to Reach More Underserved Students in School Clinics – For more than 40 years, an organization has been bringing low-cost, high-quality pediatric healthcare straight to schools to reach children who need their services the most. Kids First Health Care opened the first school-based health center in Colorado in 1978. Kids First Health Care ensures coordination among all members of the care team. They joined the CORHIO network in 2015 and rely on PatientCare 360® to access their patients’ Community Health Record, generate Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs), and to make sure immunizations are included in students’ medical records.
Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)
The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.
Early Bird Registration Now Open for Annual Michigan Health Information Technology Conference – This year, Connecting Michigan for Health celebrates twelve years in gathering Michigan’s health information technology leaders to share and discuss emerging issues within the health information technology community in Michigan. The 2020 Connecting Michigan for Health event series will kick off with a national InterOpathon on May 28 and May 29, 2020, at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit, Michigan. On June 1, the Legal Summit returns to the Lansing Center in Lansing, Michigan followed by our flagship conference Connecting Michigan for Health, on June 2 and June 3.

Great Lakes Health Connect (@GLHC_HIE) is one of the largest and most successful Health Information Exchanges in the country and is growing rapidly. Texas – Healthcare Access San Antonio (HASA)

Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)
Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.

Quality Health Network (QHN)
Quality Health Network is a not-for-profit community partnership, established in 2004 to support the adoption of health information technology, provide health information exchange services and promote innovative uses of electronic health information for improved healthcare outcomes. QHN’s uniquely connected technology allows its network to not just exchange information, but enhance care coordination, and support the data needs of high value applications.
Quality Health Network Adds Leading Health Analytics Expert to Its Community Resource Network Team – QHN announced that Jason McRoy, of Longmont, Colo., joined the team to lead the analytic intelligence and strategic risk stratification services department of its award-winning Community Resource Network (CRN).
South Dakota Health Link
South Dakota Health Link (@SDHealthLink) connects hospitals, federally qualified health centers, primary care providers, specialists, labs and pharmacies as well as public health and other state agencies. It’s a one-of-a-kind network that allows secure consultations and the sharing of test results with other providers for better patient outcomes. Health Link is provided by the South Dakota Department of Health and guided by an active advisory council working toward a common goal: Foster the sharing of information through a secure platform to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of care provided to all citizens.
PDMP Integration within South Dakota Health Link’s Point of Care Exchange – The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) is a statewide electronic database developed to track distribution and use of controlled substances. These programs have been established to improve patient care by providing prescribers and pharmacists with a comprehensive controlled substance history for their patients and to help identify potential abuse or misuse of controlled substances. South Dakota Health Link’s Point of Care Exchange now allows providers to access the state’s PDMP within the portal. This new Prescription Monitoring Program tab displays filled Schedule II, III, IV, and V prescriptions as reported by dispensers.
