State Health Information Exchanges (HIE) come in all shapes and sizes but have one thing in common: To improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care delivered in their states. Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN)

Georgia Health Information Network (@GeorgiaHIE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a healthier Georgia by facilitating the use and secure exchange of electronic health information so providers have the information they need at the point of care. GaHIN’s two products, GeorgiaDirect and Georgia ConnectedCare, connect providers statewide and nationally and are free for credentialed, authorized Georgia users.

GaHIN News – In the December Newsletter find out the latest happenings around the GaHIN organization including a list of monthly Webinars which will be delivered by GaHIN and the Department of Community Health.

Arizona – Health Current

Health Current (@AZHealthCurrent), is a partner that gives providers the information they need to make better clinical decisions and keep people healthy. The HIE believes more complete information is more meaningful. It makes healthcare transformation possible. And Health Current is central to this progress, integrating information technology and care delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Ohio – CliniSync

OH-CliniSync-200CliniSync (@CliniSync) is a nonprofit, independent, private organization originally funded from HITECH and the ONC. The Ohio Health Information Partnership assisted providers in EHR adoption and the infrastructure for statewide HIE. It was named CliniSync, which signifies Clinical data synchronization.

Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network (WISHIN)

wi-shin-twitterIn October 2010 Wisconsin officially announced its intention to designate WISHIN (@WISHIN_Pulse), a not-for-profit organization formed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, and Wisconsin Health Information Organization, as the State-designated entity to govern statewide HIE. DE on October 25, 2010. WISHIN is responsible for implementing Wisconsin’s Strategic and Operational Plan. The plan requires multi-stakeholder collaboration and emphasizes ongoing development of government and policy structures.

2020 WISHIN HIE Summit is just around the corner:

New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)

NY-SHINY-200The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.

One year later: How HealtheConnections has evolved since merger – One year after New York state regional health improvement organization (RHIO) HealtheConnections completed its merger to support the southern tier and Hudson Valley region, the organization has welcomed 559 new participating organizations onto its health information exchange (HIE). Since the merger, 6,000 new users have been onboarded, including both medical and public health staff.

Healthix and NYCIG Prepare to Merge – Healthix (@healthix) and NYCIG are pleased to announce their plan of merger in 2020. The merger of the New York City and Long Island RHIOs will result in operating efficiencies, upgraded services, a vast expansion of available data and cost effectiveness – all to better serve the hundreds of organizations, providers and patients that span both RHIOs. Currently under review by the New York State Attorney General’s office, we anticipate merger approval to take place during the first quarter of 2020.

Rochester RHIO December Newsletter – NORC at the University of Chicago , an independent non-profit research organization, is administering a web survey designed to assess user experience with health information exchange services offered by Rochester RHIO (@RochesterRHIO). The SHIN-NY Customer Satisfaction and Usage survey was sent out the week of October 28 and is already underway. The results of this survey will be used to improve health information exchange services provided by New York’s eight Qualified Entities and the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY). Michigan – Great Lakes Health Connect (GLHC)

Great Lakes Health Connect (@GLHC_HIE) is one of the largest and most successful Health Information Exchanges in the country and is growing rapidly. GLHC is committed to creating care-connected communities across Michigan. Their vision is to enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs across the continuum of care.

GLHC’s Brian Mack on HealthcareNOW Radio’s Paradigm Shift of Healthcare – Health Information Exchanges, or HIE’s, have only existed as a business concept for a decade, but they are already solving many issues related to sharing private health information between providers. Brian Mack, marketing manager for Great Lakes Health Connect, and a former HIMSS social media ambassador, provides a “state of the state” overview of HIE’s. He dives into how medical practices benefit from the solutions that HIE’s can provide, including what to remember about recent mergers and acquisitions.

Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)

UT-UHIN-200UHIN (@UHIN_HIE) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.

New EDI Enrollment Tool in MYUHIN – UHIN is excited to announce an upgrade from the old Clearinghouse Services Change Form to a new online EDI Enrollment Tool. As of February 1st, 2020, we will no longer be accepting the Clearinghouse Services Change Form. All EDI enrollment requests must be submitted through MYUHIN’s EDI Enrollment Tool.

Texas – Healthcare Access San Antonio (HASA)

TX-hasa_twitterHealthcare Access San Antonio (@HASA_TX) offers value-based, patient-centered information services intended to improve the health status of individuals and the communities it serves. HASA brings together healthcare providers from larger health systems to single physician practices-to enable the secure exchange of health information throughout Central Texas, ensuring that providers have this information securely at their fingertips when and where they need it.

Day 4: “Four Calling Birds” Highlight Four Use Cases for Future HIE Success – Buff Colchagoff, CEO, RosettaHealth, recently had the pleasure of doing a RosettaHealth podcast interview with Phil Beckett, CEO of HASA, who discussed use cases, which will help HIEs climb in value, overcome challengers and pave the way for future success. Missouri – Missouri Health Connect (MHC)

MO-HC_twitterMissouri Health Connect (@HealthConnectMO), a non‐profit organization, is the state‐designated HIE organization that provides a secure and private electronic platform for sharing health information.

Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)

IHIE-200Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.

Indiana HIE CEO Reappointed to National HIT Advisory Committee – Earlier this week, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) made three new appointments and four reappointments to the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC). John Kansky, president and CEO of the Indiana Health Information Exchange was appointed to serve a second and final term.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)

CORHIO200CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.

Colorado’s Health Information Exchanges Expand Data Sharing to Include Clinical Documents – Quality Health Network (QHN), based in Grand Junction, and Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO), based in Denver, announced that the two health information exchanges (HIEs) have expanded their exchange of secure patient data, enabling better care coordination for millions of Colorado patients.
