Barney will lead collaboration with the 34 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to develop, deliver and maintain creative and innovative network programs that fit members’ health care needs nationwide.

New Respite Care Option Launched in Montgomery County
CareSource (@caresource), a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan, announced a new option with the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDDS) and I Am Boundless to provide respite care for parents and other caregivers of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and behavioral health challenges.

Additional $100 Million Investment in Housing Bolsters UnitedHealth Group’s Efforts to Address Social Determinants and Achieve Better Health Outcomes
UnitedHealth Group (@UnitedHealthGrp) announced an additional $100 million investment in the Health & Housing Fund — a partnership with Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) and National Affordable Housing Trust (NAHT). The announcement brings the company’s total investments in affordable housing to nearly $800 million, resulting in the creation of nearly 19,000 homes for individuals and families struggling with housing insecurity, more than 1,000 of which will be a direct result of the new investment.

Humana Foundation $5.5 Million Investment Sustains Health Equity Momentum in Targeted Communities
The Humana Foundation, philanthropic arm of Humana Inc. (@Humana) for the past 40 years, continued its $5.5 million investment in six communities across the United States to improve greater health equity outcomes for marginalized populations. This ongoing investment supports the Foundation’s commitment to addressing the specific needs of communities while promoting more healthy days and focusing on asset and financial security, food security and social connections.

Humana Completes Aggregate $750 Million Debt Offering
Humana announced the completion of its public offering of $750 million aggregate principal amount of the company’s 3.700 percent senior notes, due 2029 (the “Senior Notes Offering”).

Independence Health Group reports 2021 financial results
Independence Health Group, Inc., (@ibx) the parent company of Independence Blue Cross, LLC, reported solid financial results for 2021 with total revenue of $24.7 billion, up $2.9 billion or 13.3 percent over 2020. When revenues are combined with claims paid on behalf of self-funded employers, Independence had health care funds under management of $34.5 billion in 2021, up from $29.5 billion in 2020.
